At the helm of Vogue Korea, Shin Kwang-ho has managed to successfully mix a blend of both homegrown talents and international faces when it comes to selecting the magazine’s cover stars. Korean stars such as Jennie Kim of Blackpink, Jimin of the band BTS and the actress Jun Ji-hyun fronted covers throughout 2023 while international faces included Lila Moss, Naomi Campbell and América González. Kwang-ho kick-starts 2024 by welcoming Lulu Tenney as Vogue Korea’s January 2024 cover girl, who poses for photographer Davit Giorgadze. Styled by Dogi Nesanir, the American model wears a fringed suit from Matthieu Blazy’s Spring 2024 collection for Bottega Veneta in the chic and minimalist cover image.

Vogue Korea’s latest left members of our forums divided. “Awful styling and proportions,” an underwhelmed kokobombon critiqued.

“Very basic,” MON chimed in.

“Personally, I don’t think this cover has a good feel,” ERIKMISUN pointed out.

Hafyiez wafa commented: “I’m do not understand Vogue Korea’s aesthetic. Could they be more creative?”

Also not exactly thrilled with the outcome was crmsn: “I don’t really hate it, but it’s not what I expected from them after their October-December covers. It’s just so… basic. Even the layout looks outdated!”

“Not the most visually-arresting Korean Vogue cover I’ve came across but compared with most other editions of Vogue, I do quite like this. The colors are gorgeous!” confessed vogue28.

The relationship between Dolce & Gabanna and Steven Meisel continues to go from strength to strength, and you’ve been missing out (big style) if you weren’t aware the Italian designers had began to recommission the master photographer to lens their advertising campaign imagery. The return to glory first started mid-2023 when Mariacarla Boscono became the face of D&G’s Summer 2023 collection and the party continued into the Fall 2023 season with a sultry Maya Jama posing for Meisel. Much to our delight, Meisel and stylist Karl Templer remain onboard for Pre-Spring 2024, with Lulu Tenney (in addition to male models Yoesry Detre, Xu Meen and Habib Masovic) coming along for the ride throughout the series of flawless studio-shot campaign imagery.

Vogue28 was also full of praise, adding: “Divine, absolutely divine campaign. Never been a one to rave about Lulu Tenney but she is selling it here like there’s no tomorrow So bright, vibrant, polished, glossy, glamorous – I could go on and on!”

“Meisel + D&G = Perfection,” calculated an elated lanvinray.

Models on the covers of fashion magazines will forever be a cause for celebration here on theFashionSpot, even more so as every major glossy unveils their offerings for the upcoming fall season. Make no mistake that V Magazine‘s Stephen Gan has a tendency to deliver the goods when it comes to selecting models as V‘s cover stars, and throughout last year alone we became witness to a whole plethora of top models including Gigi Hadid (on two separate occasions), Gisele Bündchen while Adut Akech and Imaan Hammam (amongst others) graced V‘s Winter 2022 edition which closed out the year on a high.
The cutting-edge fashion title’s issue for Fall 2023 is an outright celebration of the faces who rule the runways, as Hailey Bieber, América González, Amar Akway, Lulu Tenney, Raquel Zimmermann, Vivienne Rohner, Margaux Lion, Amelia Gray and Rachel Marx pose on a mammoth ten covers for the celebratory moment, each captured by photographic duo Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinnodh Matadin and styled by Paul Sinclaire.

Per usual with a multi-cover selection, members of our forums were quick to select their favorite. “The Hailey Bieber cover looks great! Very glamorous. Best I’ve seen from her,” raved thiago.
In complete agreement was heyjaded: “Honestly, Hailey’s cover is the best!”
“I like the cover, it’s very strong 80s power woman,” chimed in Urban Stylin.
“You know you need to rethink things when a Hailey Bieber cover is the standout from a group of 10,” laughed KINGofVERSAILLES.
“My favorite cover by a long shot is Hailey Bieber’s, which is giving me all sorts of Helmut Newton/Studio 54/80s power woman vibes and I’m loving for it. Amar Awkay’s is second, which is just gorgeous and then I do like Vivienne Rohner’s cover,” vogue28 voiced.
Mikel wrote: “I can’t help but absolutely love Raquel’s cover!”

After a few disappointing shoots for the likes of Vogue Italia and Prada, Willy Vandeperre had fallen out of favor with theFashionSpot forum members in recent months. Yet the Belgian photographer’s newest campaign for Calvin Klein’s Fall 2018 collection has put him back in our good graces. Raf Simons has been a Vanderperre fan since his Christian Dior days and has continued to hire him to shoot Calvin Klein campaigns since he joined the company in 2016 (not to mention Raf’s namesake campaigns). Models Julia Nobis, Freja Beha Erichsen, Lulu Tenney, Erin O’Connor and Liya Kebede assemble this season, looking like they’ve landed from another planet as they roam a rugged and remote landscape in Utah.

The campaign proved to be an instant hit with the majority of forum members. “Much better than the previous CK campaigns he’s done,” approved Sensation the moment the campaign dropped.

“I love this. It’s very androgynous and the location is amazing. Nice and weird angles too,” voiced 333101.

“One of the best this season,” declared elle_gb.

LastNight raved, “I adore this! It’s really dynamic and fun to look at.”

“I actually LOVE this, wonderful cast and love the location,” zacatecas570 admired.

Unfortunately, the campaign wasn’t for everyone. “When you shamelessly rip off [Richard] Avedon, but fail to live up to his genius. Willy tried, but this is just as cold and sterile as everything he’s ever done. Raf Simons is the worst thing that could have ever happened to Calvin Klein,” disapproved forum member mepps.

“Even with sci-fi, which I would’ve thought would be right up his alley, the guy comes up short. But I think I can tolerate this because of the light colors. There’s still a cheap-ish digital vibe to these images which I don’t like,” Benn98 commented.

“Not very fond of this images but kudos to Willy for bringing something different to the table after so many bland images he’s done for CK,” reasoned YohjiAddict.

Interview March 2018 : Fashion's Next Generation by David Sims

Just about every major fashion publication has undergone an extensive redesign over the past few months. Interview Magazine had been laying low (our forum members thought they had secretly folded) but the magazine just unveiled a brand new look for the March 2018 edition. Mixing the old with the new, Interview‘s original masthead returns while the magazine taps ‘Fashion’s Next Generation’ of models to star on a series of covers. Five beauties, including Oumie Jammeh, Fran Summers, Lulu, Ansley Gulielmi and Gisele Fox were photographed by David Sims in black and white. Offset with the shocking pink masthead, the covers are sure to command attention at the newsstand.

Unfortunately, our forum members weren’t so captivated. “I don’t know if it’s because they are all new faces or because it’s in black and white, but these look like test shots for me. I’m happy for all these girls tho, it’s strange to see new models on the cover of Interview,” commented apple.

“If that’s the future then I would say it looks pretty depressing,” expressed KissMiss.

“I don’t mind the cover feature, but I don’t think it’s suitable for the cover of Interview. Models can work for an Interview cover, but only if it’s a real personality. Not just some bland (but beautiful) looking model who’s supposedly part of the new generation. Are the girls even interviewed for this issue? Do they have anything interesting to say?” asked mikel.

Also left unimpressed by the cast was YohjiAddict. “God knows I’ve never followed models but to me these girls are complete strangers, worst still, looking at their lifeless portraits I’ve got no interest in knowing them.”

“Fashion’s next gen-ZZzzzZZ-erati-ZzzZZ-on. Boringest/most ordinary looking group ever,” HeatherAnne disapproved.

“Fashion’s next generation? Only black and white models? No Asian? Such an ironic joke,” scolded forum member ChicSaks, stating a very valid point.
