The 2024 Golden Globe Awards kicked off a month-long award season last night, and adorned with star-studded guests, the gala saw the A-list attendees lean into the pure unapologetic old-school Hollywood glamour of traditional silhouettes, sequins and satin in a take that felt both modern and unexpected. The beauty looks of the night proved to be quintessential ‘no-makeup makeup’ this year, completely afresh with flawless and glowing skin, with subtle flushes of color across both the cheeks and lips – and you can call us here on theFashionSpot 100% obsessed.

You’ve encountered all the must-see fashion looks of the night, now it’s time to select the best beauty looks. Scroll further for the beauty highlights:

Elle Fanning:

Looking like she’s stumbled straight out of a fairy tale book, the American actress made a stunning arrival at the 2024 Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills wearing a silky ivory strapless gown embellished with a giant bow at the neckline. The piece is a vintage Pierre Balmain dress which features a fitted bodice and an ample skirt. To complement the look, Fanning oh so brilliantly wore a pretty natural makeup, including a subtle silver shadow, a thin black liner, and pink blush. Elle’s hair was styled into a neat, side-parted ballerina bun – ultimately becoming my absolute favorite from the night!

Margot Robbie:

The Aussie actress, who was nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, for her role as Barbie arrived in a custom Giorgio Armani Privé hot pink sequined gown along with a pink tulle boa, which Barbie fans immediately recognized as a replica of the 1977 SuperStar Barbie doll’s 50th anniversary! Margot wore her beautiful blonde tresses parted in the middle and cascading down in gentle soft waves, with flawless glowing skin and a gorgeous flush on pink on her lips. What’s not to love?

Rosamund Pike:

The sweeping ballerina-length, full-skirted black chantilly-laced dress the British actress wore was paired with a “protective veil” designed by Philip Tracey, selected to help conceal the wounds of a skiing accident in December. The dress from a 2019 Christian Dior haute couture collection designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri was selected by stylist Leith Clark. Leith accessorized the netted dress on Pike with pair of black platform sandals, ear cuffs of dazzling white diamonds and rings from Boucheron. Fair the say the veil made this look!

Carey Mulligan:

Mulligan channeled 1950s-style glamour on the red carpet – and with stunning results. The actress wore a vintage Schiaparelli black dress with ruching down the centre and an embellished sweetheart strapless neckline. Hairstylist Jenny Cho said the sparkly dress was the main inspiration behind Mulligan’s contrasting sleek bob.

Danielle Brooks:

Dressed in a stunningly vibrant floor-length red Moschino dress, adorned with jewels by swarovski, Danielle Brooks oozed old-Hollywood glamour. Looking like a time-less classic, with side swept dark copper curls, and a full glam, she was styled by Gabriella Karefa-Johnson and makeup by Rebekah Aladdin. A round of applause, please!

Elizabeth Debicki:

Making a glittering entrance at the 2024 Golden Globes Awards, the actress, who won her first Golden Globe for her portrayal of Princess Diana in Nextflix’s The Crown, donned a Christian Dior Haute Couture dress from the French fashion house’s Fall 2023 collection. Debicki wore her platinum blonde locks slightly tousled, while her makeup consisted of a nude lip and muted blush. Less is always more, right?

Jennifer Aniston:

Can we even talk about the 2024 Golden Globe Awards without the mention of Jennifer Aniston’s new-do? The actress ultimately chose the event to reveal a new shorter-length hairstyle, with the internet (including us here at theFashionSpot) immediately reminded of the iconic ‘The Rachel’ cut. Can we get a tutorial anytime soon, Chris McMillan?

And so the 2024 awards season has officially begun…

Last night, Hollywood stars descended upon the iconic Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills for the 81st annual Golden Globe awards. Stars like Margot Robbie dazzled in sequined Giorgio Armani Privé (channeling Barbie, because what else?), Taylor Swift shone bright in custom lime green Gucci while the living legend that is Meryl Streep walked the red carpet in a shimmering Dolce & Gabbana floor-length skirt and jacket. Selena Gomez had somewhat of a mini Marilyn Monroe moment before the lens of the paparazzi, wearing a ruby red dress and the even the warm Los Angeles wind understood the assignment when Hunter Schafer arrived in custom translucent Prada. Elsewhere, Jennifer Lopez nailed old-school Hollywood glamour while Elle Fanning took deep in the Balmain archives to unearth and revive a vintage Pierre Balmain dress.

Needless to say, the 2024 Golden Globe Awards proved to be an absolute fashion extravaganza and we here at theFashionSpot have curated the must-see looks of the night. Scroll further our selection:

It is common knowledge that Christian Dior likes to have a whole rooster of brand ambassadors (like Charlize Theron, Jennifer Lawrence, Natalie Portman, Yara Shahidi and Anya Taylor-Joy) on speed dial, to make appearances either on the red carpet dressed in one of Maria Grazia Chiuri’s designs or fronting an advertising campaign for the fabled French fashion house. Dior added Elizabeth Debicki to their rolodex and wealth of ambassadors back in late 2021, with the actress’ first official outing arriving in the form of the brand’s Rose Dior joaillerie advertising campaign in 2022 – to much fanfare on theFashionSpot’s forums.

Almost a whole two years later, Debicki returns as the face of Christian Dior Joaillerie for the Fall 2023 season, appearing before the lens of photographer Julien Martinez Leclerc and dripping in the the Victorie de Castellane-designed Rose Dior Bagatelle and Bois de Rose collections. Against a simple yet classic, clean and timeless grey backdrop, the Australian beauty oozes elegance and grace as she gazes down Leclerc’s lens.

Sparkling diamonds and mesmerizing gemstones animate the Rose Dior Bagatelle and Bois de Rose jewels by Victoire de Castellane, with actress Elizabeth Debicki personifying this brilliance, mirroring a decadent homage to nature. The glistening Bois de Rose pieces reveal pure, organic forms of rose stems and thorns in gold, marrying the untamed beauty of the wild with Dior Joaillerie craftsmanship.

Christian Dior Joaillerie F/W 2021.22 : Elizabeth Debicki by David Sims

Christian Dior certainly loves having brand ambassadors. The legendary French fashion house’s latest signing? Elizabeth Debicki joining Charlize Theron, Jennifer Lawrence, Natalie Portman, Yara Shahidi and Anya Taylor-Joy. Debicki becomes the second face of Christian Dior Joaillerie alongside Cara Delevingne with the actress exuding elegance and grace before the lens of David Sims. In the minimalist and utterly chic campaign images, the Australian beauty wears Victoire de Castellane’s sublime new additions to the Rose Dior collection which pays homage to Christian Dior and his love of roses.

For the most part, members of our forums were impressed. “Gorgeous! This is exactly what Dior should look like! Elizabeth Debicki is perfect. I love the simplicity of this campaign,” raved Frederic01.

“I like the sense of simplicity also because when someone as beautiful and photogenic as Elizabeth Debicki is the subject, gimmicks and OTT beauty styling simply aren’t necessary. The photographs feel very regal, elegant and classy…” admired vogue28.

“So much better than Cara,” added GivenchyHomme.

“Not bad, but they could’ve done way more. Elizabeth is so effortlessly poised and elegant, like those bygone 50s couture-clad swans that Richard Avedon and Irving Penn would love to photograph,” Marc10 chimed in.

KINGofVERSAILLES wasn’t blown away, either. “Elizabeth is one of the most stunning women in film and she brings natural elegance and glamour here in spades, but she’s not being helped by the boring clothes, the boring hair, the no-makeup look…it’s just too simple.”

“White background? White table? It makes her look washed out,” proclaimed abstraccion.

US Vogue April 2019 : 'A Celebration of Global Talent' by Mikael Jansson

There’s something going on over at Vogue HQ — and we like it. Despite the Hailey and Justin Bieber cover last month, Vogue has been consistently delivering impressive covers with the likes of Emily Blunt, Priyanka Chopra and Reese Witherspoon. Diversity is on order this month as Vogue gives up its latest to “global talent,” as actresses Scarlett Johansson, Doona Bae and Deepika Padukone feature on one cover and Léa Seydoux, Angelababy, Adesua Etomi-Wellington and Elizabeth Debicki star on a second cover. The ladies sit pretty in the charming images shot by photographer Mikael Jansson and styled by Camilla Nickerson.

Were our forum members buying Vogue‘s newfound direction? “I’ve never been a fan of US Vogue but this year they have produced some lovely covers, this included. They have all been classically American Vogue, but we’ve had new faces and more importantly diverse faces,” Blayne266 said.

“Another classic example of an old-school American Vogue which I won’t scoff at! It’s a beautiful cover, and even more refreshing to see fresh new faces on the cover,” echoed vogue28.

[ Not a tFS forum member yet? Click here to join! ]

Yet the diversity didn’t seem…authentic to some of our forum members. “This feels like such a gimmick! ‘Hey Edward [Enninful] is doing such diverse covers over at British Vogue,‘ let me jump on the bandwagon without actually putting effort into making it a decent cover!” Miss Dalloway called out.

“Anna [Wintour]’s vision of diversity is just lazy and backward. This brings nothing new to the table. A first East Asian on the cover should be a celebration, even a solo cover, not sharing it with some white princess standing above her. The diversity should be about race, age, size and more,” said TaylorBinque.

Also unimpressed was forum member Ed, commenting, “‘So Scarlett, let’s have you in the middle, higher than the other ladies.'”

“Saying Scarlett is portrayed ‘higher and more important’ because she is in the middle is stretching it, I think. This is a diverse cover for US Vogue and thanks for that. Lots of people really don’t know when to stop throwing race cards here and there,” fired back dontbeadrag.

Radhika Jones hasn’t exactly pulled out all the stops since taking over for Graydon Carter at Vanity Fair, and even covers featuring the likes of Jennifer Lawrence, Michelle Williams or Natalie Portman haven’t managed to impress our discerning forum members. Jones, however, is sticking to tradition as the magazine drops its 25th annual ‘Hollywood Issue‘ for 2019. Chadwick Boseman, Saoirse Ronan, Timothée Chalamet, Nicholas Hoult, Yalitza Aparicio, Rami Malek, Regina King, John David Washington, Elizabeth Debicki, Tessa Thompson and Henry Golding get the honors this year, styled by Samira Nasr and photographed by Emmanuel Lubezki, who makes for a refreshing alternative to Annie Leibovitz (especially considering last year’s unforgivable Photoshop blunder). Worth noting is that the cover features a majority people of color for the first time.

Despite the diverse cover subjects, don’t expect our forum members to make a mad dash to the newsstand. “This cover is standard. Nothing feels special. All the poses seems so calculated and forced,” commented TaylorBinque.

“This looks like a bunch of extremely bored people on a film set who have been waiting hours for their call to work,” tigerrouge chimed in.

“Tiresome. Same boring, pretentious group portrait. Where are the obnoxious Photoshop bloopers?” mocked dfl-001.

“I have never heard of most of the people here (my fault, not theirs), and can’t help but feel this was a bit forced,” Srdjan complained.

In agreement over the casting was forum member Karl Boucher. “WTF, where is Glenn Close, Lady Gaga, Olivia Colman?” he asked.

Benn98 wrote, “The main cover is ruined by the two males and that odd pose they’ve forced on Saoirse. As for the actual image, it just reinforces the idea that however much this editor is trying to modernize VF, the core of it is steeped in tradition. You can get rid of Annie Leibovitz, but you can’t get rid of her style or signature!”

“I feel that with this lineup, the cover would’ve been a bit more relevant a year ago,” disapproved mikel.

If the same old-same old poses on the cover aren’t doing it for you. Check out Vanity Fair’s Instagram for some livelier shots, including behind-the-scenes images, smoldering short videos featuring Boseman and Chalamet, and a whole lot of dancing.

49-year-old supermodel Linda Evangelista looked classic in ladylike monochrome, with a white fishtail skirt up front. We loved her coiffed half-up do styled with loose waves, plus sparkly diamond earrings to reinforce what a timeless beauty this woman is.

Photo: Don Arnold/WireImage

Cheyenne Tozzi managed to make an elegant Toni Maticevski gown look a little seductive, even with a modest midi-length cut and a sweet floral print.  We blame the strapless neckline, sultry red lips, tousled waves, exposed tatts and genetically blessed face for that.

Photo: Don Arnold/WireImage

Then there were these love birds. It doesn’t even matter what Elsa Pataky wore because she’s bagged Chris freakin’ Hemsworth. If, by some off chance, we did care what Chris’ baby-mumma and wife chose to wear for the event, we’d say she looked cute in black-on-black and kept it interesting with a leopard-print cross-body bag (which would’ve been better as a clutch) and metallic pumps. Chris looked hot, in checks-on-checks.

The Great Gatsby‘s Elizabeth Debicki stepped out wearing Romance was Born, rocking digital prints and sheer overlays for an quirky high-tech look. She clearly didn’t feel the need to accessorise, with only a small ring and simple shoes used to pull the look together.

Elizabeth Debicki’s star is set to rise at light-speed thanks to Baz Luhrmann’s decadent 3D dazzle-fest The Great Gatsby, but it’s not only excessive theatrics (and an otherwise A-list cast) from which she’s managing to set herself apart.

For the Sydney leg of Gatsby’s premiere last week, Debicki wore a floral-skirted Christian Dior gown from the Spring 2013 collections. It’s not the first time the dress has appeared on a lanky Aussie blonde with a rapidly escalating career – Brisbane model Nicole Pollard was the one who wore it down the Dior runway last spring — and certainly a six-foot frame is a desired asset when you’re hoping to look this stunning.

Before Gatsby, Debicki’s acting career consisted only of a bit part in Stephan Elliott’s comedy A Few Best Men. With the stoic red carpet presence of Rooney Mara, the doe-eyed innocence of Sophie Lowe and the elfin balletic athleticism of Cate Blanchett, Debicki is fully equipped to be Australia’s next major export. And if her next role isn’t a 3D motion one, we can fully see her as the face of a big fragrance campaign.
