The 2024 Golden Globe Awards kicked off a month-long award season last night, and adorned with star-studded guests, the gala saw the A-list attendees lean into the pure unapologetic old-school Hollywood glamour of traditional silhouettes, sequins and satin in a take that felt both modern and unexpected. The beauty looks of the night proved to be quintessential ‘no-makeup makeup’ this year, completely afresh with flawless and glowing skin, with subtle flushes of color across both the cheeks and lips – and you can call us here on theFashionSpot 100% obsessed.

You’ve encountered all the must-see fashion looks of the night, now it’s time to select the best beauty looks. Scroll further for the beauty highlights:

Elle Fanning:

Looking like she’s stumbled straight out of a fairy tale book, the American actress made a stunning arrival at the 2024 Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills wearing a silky ivory strapless gown embellished with a giant bow at the neckline. The piece is a vintage Pierre Balmain dress which features a fitted bodice and an ample skirt. To complement the look, Fanning oh so brilliantly wore a pretty natural makeup, including a subtle silver shadow, a thin black liner, and pink blush. Elle’s hair was styled into a neat, side-parted ballerina bun – ultimately becoming my absolute favorite from the night!

Margot Robbie:

The Aussie actress, who was nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, for her role as Barbie arrived in a custom Giorgio Armani Privé hot pink sequined gown along with a pink tulle boa, which Barbie fans immediately recognized as a replica of the 1977 SuperStar Barbie doll’s 50th anniversary! Margot wore her beautiful blonde tresses parted in the middle and cascading down in gentle soft waves, with flawless glowing skin and a gorgeous flush on pink on her lips. What’s not to love?

Rosamund Pike:

The sweeping ballerina-length, full-skirted black chantilly-laced dress the British actress wore was paired with a “protective veil” designed by Philip Tracey, selected to help conceal the wounds of a skiing accident in December. The dress from a 2019 Christian Dior haute couture collection designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri was selected by stylist Leith Clark. Leith accessorized the netted dress on Pike with pair of black platform sandals, ear cuffs of dazzling white diamonds and rings from Boucheron. Fair the say the veil made this look!

Carey Mulligan:

Mulligan channeled 1950s-style glamour on the red carpet – and with stunning results. The actress wore a vintage Schiaparelli black dress with ruching down the centre and an embellished sweetheart strapless neckline. Hairstylist Jenny Cho said the sparkly dress was the main inspiration behind Mulligan’s contrasting sleek bob.

Danielle Brooks:

Dressed in a stunningly vibrant floor-length red Moschino dress, adorned with jewels by swarovski, Danielle Brooks oozed old-Hollywood glamour. Looking like a time-less classic, with side swept dark copper curls, and a full glam, she was styled by Gabriella Karefa-Johnson and makeup by Rebekah Aladdin. A round of applause, please!

Elizabeth Debicki:

Making a glittering entrance at the 2024 Golden Globes Awards, the actress, who won her first Golden Globe for her portrayal of Princess Diana in Nextflix’s The Crown, donned a Christian Dior Haute Couture dress from the French fashion house’s Fall 2023 collection. Debicki wore her platinum blonde locks slightly tousled, while her makeup consisted of a nude lip and muted blush. Less is always more, right?

Jennifer Aniston:

Can we even talk about the 2024 Golden Globe Awards without the mention of Jennifer Aniston’s new-do? The actress ultimately chose the event to reveal a new shorter-length hairstyle, with the internet (including us here at theFashionSpot) immediately reminded of the iconic ‘The Rachel’ cut. Can we get a tutorial anytime soon, Chris McMillan?

And so the 2024 awards season has officially begun…

Last night, Hollywood stars descended upon the iconic Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills for the 81st annual Golden Globe awards. Stars like Margot Robbie dazzled in sequined Giorgio Armani Privé (channeling Barbie, because what else?), Taylor Swift shone bright in custom lime green Gucci while the living legend that is Meryl Streep walked the red carpet in a shimmering Dolce & Gabbana floor-length skirt and jacket. Selena Gomez had somewhat of a mini Marilyn Monroe moment before the lens of the paparazzi, wearing a ruby red dress and the even the warm Los Angeles wind understood the assignment when Hunter Schafer arrived in custom translucent Prada. Elsewhere, Jennifer Lopez nailed old-school Hollywood glamour while Elle Fanning took deep in the Balmain archives to unearth and revive a vintage Pierre Balmain dress.

Needless to say, the 2024 Golden Globe Awards proved to be an absolute fashion extravaganza and we here at theFashionSpot have curated the must-see looks of the night. Scroll further our selection:

While there were lots of amazing gowns and suits (both the pant and jump varieties) to obsess over at the 2020 Golden Globe Awards, we couldn’t help but stare at the stars from the neck up. From bold red lips to precise cat eyes to plumped-up lashes, celebs really went glam for the ceremony. And the hairstyles were just as grand. Jennifer Lopez went old school with a braided bun, Phoebe Waller-Bridge showed off her curls and both Beanie Feldstein and Lucy Boynton flaunted some eye-catching hair accessories. Here are the best beauty looks this year’s Globes had to offer.

There was a lot of color on the red carpet at this year’s Golden Globe Awards. We were treated to retina-burning reds, bright pinks, splashes of yellow and even neon green. The other major trend? Structure. From Cate Blanchett’s pleated sleeves to Joey King’s mesmerizing cape dress to Charlize Theron’s black bodice. There were also plenty of pantsuits and jumpsuits to fawn over.

It’s a new year, which means new red carpets. Award season kicked off in (mostly) high style with the 2019 Golden Globe Awards. It seems some celebrities’ New Year’s resolutions involved being their most fabulous selves because it was definitely shown on the red carpet. The fashion was predictably divine, but we would be remiss if we talked style without discussing beauty.

Many celebrities slayed with their hair and makeup. The Golden Globes is nicknamed the “fun” ceremony, which could be why we saw some experimental beauty looks in the form of electric emerald eyeshadow, indigo mascara, icy blue hair and braided space buns. (No, the looks weren’t all from Lady Gaga.) Of course, we can’t discount a classic look when it’s done to perfection and there’s a reason why red lipstick and elegant updos appear on every red carpet.

Alas, all the hair and makeup wasn’t on point. There were some questionable beauty looks that made us do double takes for all the wrong reasons. We’re hoping that these were one-off moments and all celebrities will be back in top form for the rest of award season.

Keep scrolling to see the best and worst beauty looks from the 2019 Golden Globes.

After last year’s blackout, color was back in play at this year’s Golden Globe Awards. (But the movement was still on everyone’s minds and wrists thanks to Time’s Up bracelets.) Reds and pinks proved popular as did various shades of blue. And some stars shined bright in metallics, from liquid gold to cool silver. While all the big fashion houses were well represented, Monique Lhuillier decided to turn the red carpet into a veritable runway as several celebs hit the awards in looks from her Fall 2019 collection. Valentino also left its mark by supplying show-stopping haute couture gowns to Lady Gaga and Gemma Chan. Here are all the red carpet looks you need to see.

The 2018 Golden Globe Awards red carpet was unlike any in recent memory. The vast majority of actors, actresses and their dates (many of them female activists) wore head-to-toe black in solidarity with the Time’s Up movement, calling for an end to sexual discrimination and harassment in Hollywood and beyond.

Not to detract from the weight of these matters but — as we suspected it would — this important cultural moment gave rise to many outstanding beauty moments. (How else does one stand out in a sea of black formalwear, if not through hair and makeup?) Hair whizzes got extra inventive, whipping out braids, pins, pony holders and hair cages (see above) to rival the Spring 2018 runways. Makeup artists favored bold lips and eyes in colors (red, purple, green) oft used to symbolize female power.

That said, the all-black red carpet was a bit like those of yore in that, occasionally, stylists and glam teams missed their mark. Click through the gallery below to see the most memorable — for better or worse — beauty looks of the politically charged evening.
