The 2024 Golden Globe Awards kicked off a month-long award season last night, and adorned with star-studded guests, the gala saw the A-list attendees lean into the pure unapologetic old-school Hollywood glamour of traditional silhouettes, sequins and satin in a take that felt both modern and unexpected. The beauty looks of the night proved to be quintessential ‘no-makeup makeup’ this year, completely afresh with flawless and glowing skin, with subtle flushes of color across both the cheeks and lips – and you can call us here on theFashionSpot 100% obsessed.

You’ve encountered all the must-see fashion looks of the night, now it’s time to select the best beauty looks. Scroll further for the beauty highlights:

Elle Fanning:

Looking like she’s stumbled straight out of a fairy tale book, the American actress made a stunning arrival at the 2024 Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills wearing a silky ivory strapless gown embellished with a giant bow at the neckline. The piece is a vintage Pierre Balmain dress which features a fitted bodice and an ample skirt. To complement the look, Fanning oh so brilliantly wore a pretty natural makeup, including a subtle silver shadow, a thin black liner, and pink blush. Elle’s hair was styled into a neat, side-parted ballerina bun – ultimately becoming my absolute favorite from the night!

Margot Robbie:

The Aussie actress, who was nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, for her role as Barbie arrived in a custom Giorgio Armani Privé hot pink sequined gown along with a pink tulle boa, which Barbie fans immediately recognized as a replica of the 1977 SuperStar Barbie doll’s 50th anniversary! Margot wore her beautiful blonde tresses parted in the middle and cascading down in gentle soft waves, with flawless glowing skin and a gorgeous flush on pink on her lips. What’s not to love?

Rosamund Pike:

The sweeping ballerina-length, full-skirted black chantilly-laced dress the British actress wore was paired with a “protective veil” designed by Philip Tracey, selected to help conceal the wounds of a skiing accident in December. The dress from a 2019 Christian Dior haute couture collection designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri was selected by stylist Leith Clark. Leith accessorized the netted dress on Pike with pair of black platform sandals, ear cuffs of dazzling white diamonds and rings from Boucheron. Fair the say the veil made this look!

Carey Mulligan:

Mulligan channeled 1950s-style glamour on the red carpet – and with stunning results. The actress wore a vintage Schiaparelli black dress with ruching down the centre and an embellished sweetheart strapless neckline. Hairstylist Jenny Cho said the sparkly dress was the main inspiration behind Mulligan’s contrasting sleek bob.

Danielle Brooks:

Dressed in a stunningly vibrant floor-length red Moschino dress, adorned with jewels by swarovski, Danielle Brooks oozed old-Hollywood glamour. Looking like a time-less classic, with side swept dark copper curls, and a full glam, she was styled by Gabriella Karefa-Johnson and makeup by Rebekah Aladdin. A round of applause, please!

Elizabeth Debicki:

Making a glittering entrance at the 2024 Golden Globes Awards, the actress, who won her first Golden Globe for her portrayal of Princess Diana in Nextflix’s The Crown, donned a Christian Dior Haute Couture dress from the French fashion house’s Fall 2023 collection. Debicki wore her platinum blonde locks slightly tousled, while her makeup consisted of a nude lip and muted blush. Less is always more, right?

Jennifer Aniston:

Can we even talk about the 2024 Golden Globe Awards without the mention of Jennifer Aniston’s new-do? The actress ultimately chose the event to reveal a new shorter-length hairstyle, with the internet (including us here at theFashionSpot) immediately reminded of the iconic ‘The Rachel’ cut. Can we get a tutorial anytime soon, Chris McMillan?

WSJ. Magazine Fall 2023 : Jennifer Aniston by Gray Sorrenti
IMAGE: WSJ.COM

We don’t know where you’ve been if you didn’t already know that Kristina O’Neill is out as EIC of WSJ. Magazine and Sarah Ball is O’Neill’s replacement. Over the years, WSJ has become a title in which we’ve come to depend on greatly for stellar fashion content and throughout 2023 we’ve encountered terrific covers featuring Stephanie Seymour, Selena Forrest and more recently with Kendall Jenner. The title’s Fall 2023 installment goes to Jennifer Aniston, who graces the mag’s latest in crisp black and white via the lens of Gray Sorrenti, complete with styling from Clare Richardson who dressed the American actress, producer and founder of LolaVie in Gucci for the occasion.

The cover garnered mixed feedback amongst our forum members. “I love Jennifer Aniston and I want to love the cover but the hair on her face… why?” asked matheus_s.
“She looks lovely, but the women’s fashion issue and they style her like she’s working at a random office building circa 2012!” Marc10 called out.
“Where’s the fashion? I can’t find it,” chimed in THD96.
NYLA22 wasn’t fond either, commenting: “Generally love WSJ (and Aniston) but this is not great. They just got a new EIC and I hope this isn’t a sign of things to come!”
“It’s wild how Gray Sorrenti keeps on getting high profile work with how pedestrian her photography is,” voiced Br3ncon1.
“It’s as though she doesn’t age at all! Now this is what we call ageing gracefully. Even though it sickens me to see Gray Sorrenti shoot yet another cover, it’s good for WSJ. Jennifer Aniston’s one of the few celebrities who I don’t particularly want to see dolled up in the latest fashion all the time. Probably the one time I’m prepared to give Clare Richardson’s dull as dishwater styling the pass,” Benn98 remarked.
“Everything is a bit clumsy but it’s Jennifer Aniston and I’m biased so everything is forgiven,” said oaklee91.

US InStyle September 2021 : Jennifer Aniston by Emma Summerton

It simply wouldn’t be September without Jennifer Aniston. This year Laura Brown welcomes back the actress to InStyle for a third time under her tenure. The all-American icon and star of The Morning Show fronts the magazine’s September 2021 edition starring on both the newsstand cover (below) and the subscribers’ alternative (after the jump). Captured by Emma Summerton and styled by Julia von Boehm, Jennifer takes us back to the 70s with a pair of retro-inspired covers decked out in looks from Saint Laurent, Alberta Ferretti and Michael Kors Collection.

InStyle‘s latest immediately ignited debate on our forums. “Unfortunately with Jennifer, you have to either stick with her signature style or go the complete opposite. That’s why the second cover works. The first cover isn’t good at all and that’s due to the styling,” voiced Benn98.

“The first cover is a BIG no, however, I love the second one!” echoed Zorka.

“The second cover is clearly a winner here!” proclaimed aracic.

“It’s so her and it works. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. I like the brand of easy cool Jen has always sold us, it just works. Second cover is the best for me,” agreed honeycombchild.

“The only Jennifer that matters,” declared oaklee91.

“Quintessential Jennifer Aniston, love this,” raved ReneSanchez.

“I do love me some Jennifer Aniston and it feels like the good old days whenever she’s on the cover of a fashion magazine — especially for September. I have zero complaints regarding the outcome, love the way Summerton photographed Aniston and the sense of retro glamour from the styling,” vogue28 chimed in.

“Never thought I’d see the day when InStyle would produce a September cover much better than Vogue yet that day is here!” exclaimed Velasco.

Golden Globes gowns

We’re patiently awaiting the impending glitz and glamour of Sunday’s Golden Globes broadcast. Although it’s definitely going to look different than previous years thanks to the pandemic. We decided there’s no better time to look back at the best looks to ever grace the show’s red carpet. From Marilyn Monroe’s sparkly gown in the early 60s to Lupita Nyong’o and Cate Blanchett’s impressive showings. There’s certainly lots to love. Especially since the Golden Globes honors both film and television. Which means the red carpet is always jam-packed with fashion goodness.

Check out the slideshow to reveal all the Golden Globes gowns that grabbed our attention.

Interview March 2020 : Jennifer Aniston by AliqueYou’re no doubt used to seeing Jennifer Aniston styled a certain type of way whenever she graces the covers of our favorite fashion glossies (see recent covers of Harper’s Bazaar and InStyle for prime examples). Interview opted to take the American actress slightly out of her comfort zone for its March 2020 cover shoot with stunning results. Photographed by Alique and styled by Mel Ottenberg, Jennifer looks sensational wearing the Celine boots of the season, a black leather jacket (also from Celine) and Azzedine Alaïa briefs for the cover shot.

But something about the cover bugged a few of our forum members upon closer inspection. “It looked incredible until I zoomed in on the face…” said Marc10. “Jennifer either doesn’t know how to pose or the people retouching her photos use the same preset. This is not the first time I’ve seen Jen make such strange facial expressions. Can’t someone help her?” asked a dumbfounded avonlea002.

“What a weird facial expression, she sadly looks Botoxed out of her mind. Her body is amazing though and face aside, this is a great cover and something different for Jen,” declared dodencebt. Sharing the same sentiment was Miss Dalloway: “Yeah, she is making a strange face, but you know what? This is at least something different from her. There are famous women like Jennifer, Victoria Beckham or Gwyneth Paltrow that sell based on their very defined image and every time a magazine gets them to do anything out of the usual, it’s a win! This works for me!” “I mean damnnnn if that doesn’t make you want to hit the gym. Wow! Great womanly styling, too. Killed it,” raved HeatherAnne. “Despite the unflattering facial expression in the cover shot, I am ALL for this! Alique did a truly fabulous job here and the concept of ‘gritty glamour’ feels utterly refreshing for Jennifer Aniston (who we usually see all prim, proper and smiley on fashion magazine covers),” voiced vogue28. Check out Jen’s accompanying cover feature in all its glory and share your thoughts here.

Bling was definitely in at this year’s Screen Actors Guild Awards. The shine came from both the gowns and the millions of dollars worth of jewels attendees wore on the red gray carpet. While there were some exceptionally bright shades, black proved to be the most popular color at the ceremony. And there were some peekaboo moments with stars flashing their abs courtesy of cut-outs or cleavage with a little help from plunging necklines.

Check out what your favorite celebs wore in the slideshow above.

There was a lot of color on the red carpet at this year’s Golden Globe Awards. We were treated to retina-burning reds, bright pinks, splashes of yellow and even neon green. The other major trend? Structure. From Cate Blanchett’s pleated sleeves to Joey King’s mesmerizing cape dress to Charlize Theron’s black bodice. There were also plenty of pantsuits and jumpsuits to fawn over. Now that the nominees for the 2020 Golden Globe Awards have been announced, we can’t stop fantasizing about what they’ll wear on the red carpet come January 5. And while some stars are bound to stick with their go-to designers (Michelle Williams will probably dazzle in Louis Vuitton, while Kirsten Dunst will be dressed up in Rodarte), we can still dream. From looks fit for royalty to next-level polka dots and even a true work of art, the pieces on our wishlist are designed to make a statement and earn spots on practically everyone’s best dressed list.

Check out the slideshow above to see which recent runway looks we picked for some of Hollywood’s biggest stars. And don’t forget to tune in to theFashionSpot for our live red carpet coverage of the 2020 Golden Globe Awards.

Our forum members immediately began picking favorites. “I actually love these a lot, Jen looks gorgeous and healthy as usual. And it all works well for InStyle‘s brand,” declared dodencebt. “This is so good,” praised caioherrero. “Fabulous to see Michael Thompson shooting the cover of InStyle, I am loving the look of each and every cover here. For me, the second is all we needed — love the styling on Jennifer, the taupe tones, the monochromatic masthead and fonts. Also very much into the Veruschka cover!” vogue28 chimed in.

“The first two covers are gorgeous! Wow, what a tan!” voiced Srdjan. But a certain something bothered the majority of our members. “Holy bronze! I like the third cover, looks great. But the tan ruins everything. I get that she’s the eternal Cali beach babe, but wow. That’s awful. Anyway, way too many covers as usual. And the styling looks very pedestrian,” critiqued Benn98. “These covers already look dated,” mocked ellastica. “They managed to make one of the most beautiful women alive look subpar,” stated RMDV. HeatherAnne wasn’t much of a fan, either. “I was excited that she was on the cover, but the styling here is beyond embarrassing, they styled her like she’s Lauren Conrad. So juvenile and goofy.”

June wasn’t a particularly exciting month as far as glossy magazine covers go. There wasn’t much in the way of size or racial diversity and with the exception of a few fresh faces — namely Indya Moore — the cover choices veered toward run-of-the-mill territory. That being said, it’s always fun to see OG supermodels like Naomi Campbell kill it. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley also posed for beautiful shots, while, on the flip side, we got a snoozefest from Jennifer Aniston.
