The relationship between Dolce & Gabanna and Steven Meisel continues to go from strength to strength, and you’ve been missing out (big style) if you weren’t aware the Italian designers had began to recommission the master photographer to lens their advertising campaign imagery. The return to glory first started mid-2023 when Mariacarla Boscono became the face of D&G’s Summer 2023 collection and the party continued into the Fall 2023 season with a sultry Maya Jama posing for Meisel. Much to our delight, Meisel and stylist Karl Templer remain onboard for Pre-Spring 2024, with Lulu Tenney (in addition to male models Yoesry Detre, Xu Meen and Habib Masovic) coming along for the ride throughout the series of flawless studio-shot campaign imagery.

In 2022, Toteme made the brilliant decision to commission Steven Meisel as campaign photographer, which resulted in a “simple, chic and timeless” series of images starring forum fave Vittoria Ceretti. The Fall 2022 season saw models Africa Garcia, Caren Jepkemei and Rolf Schrader pose for Meisel and Spring 2023 delivered us Julia Nobis and Jeanne Cadieu as the faces of the Stockholm-based fashion label.

Toteme put the masterful American lensman on pause for Fall 2023 (in favor of photographer Zoë Ghertner) but welcome Meisel back with opens arms, to document the launch of their debut jewelry collection. In addition, Swiss model Vivienne Rohner is welcomed back as the face of the collection which boasts classic pieces with emblematic shapes. Posing in the minimalist and chic campaign images, Vivienne reclines on a plush sofa, gazing down Meisel’s lens while captured in crisp black and white.

Need you ask how the campaign went down amongst members of theFashionSpot forums? “About time! I always wanted to see Steven working with Vivienne. So happy for her,” ivano heralded.

Just last month, the magazine’s editor Sara Moonves dropped not one but five celebratory fashion covers featuring models-of-the-moment. Now, for Volume #5 2023 which is an issue dedicated to originals, Moonves throws us yet another surprise and bestows upon us Sofia Coppola through the masterful lens of none other than firm forum fave Steven Meisel. In the cinematic black and white cover image, the American filmmaker looks divine all glammed up wearing a little black Chanel number from the French fashion house’s Fall 2023 haute couture collection, as chosen for the occasion by stylist Karl Templer.

Needless to say, W‘s latest went down an absolute treat on our forums. “Meisel and Coppola are a great duo. Love their chemistry,” noted KINGofVERSAILLES.
“Oh good LORD this is absolutely divine, an absolute delight and a total feast for the eyes. Fantastic to see Sofia Coppola and even more so to reunite with Steven Meisel. These are people at the top of their game, and it shows. What a dream team. Photographed on location in Paris in the middle of the night, Rebecca roams the capital’s iconic and très chic Avenue Montaigne, captured by Mikael Jansson and styled by Karl Templer for the occasion. Throughout the series of paparazzi-style images which could’ve filled the pages of Vogue Paris, the blonde American beauty who rules the runways during fashion month on the regular, flaunts Jimmy Choo’s new-season Diamond handbag and footwear collection.

Meet the Diamond family – Inspired by the precious nature and multi-faceted shape of the prized stone, these exquisitely crafted pieces, spanning footwear, accessories and jewellery – combine glamour with infinite wearability.

Here at theFashionSpot, we’ve been huge champions and supporters of WSJ. Magazine ever since the publication made its debut back in 2008, and can you blame us? It’s on a very VERY rare occasion in which the magazine disappoints, and covers starring the likes of Karlie Kloss, Gwyneth Paltrow and Oprah have stood the test of time.
Christmas comes early with the unveiling of the title’s digital edition to coincide with the Fall 2023 Men’s Style issue, which sees none other than modeling royalty Linda Evangelista become a WSJ. cover star, who is photographed by the equally as legendary Steven Meisel. The exemplary duo who’ve collaborated since 1987 are reunited once more and with stellar results (as one should expect). Linda’s triumphant return to the world of modeling first saw the Canadian beauty front a Fendi campaign, followed by an even more fabulous appearance on the cover of British Vogue and is currently Vogue‘s September 2023 cover star (for both the American and British editions), alongside her 90s supermodel peers.
WSJ‘s latest takes us by storm, which sees Linda photographed by Meisel in crisp black and white, posing on the studio floor atop a bed of silk sheets. Proving the less is more notion to be true while styled by Karl Templer, the industry icon wears a black sweater from The Row, a pair of Wolford tights and Cartier jewelry.

Ever since Karl Templer and Fabien Baron became the creative forces behind Ports 1961 back in 2020, we’ve been majorly obsessed with the brand’s advertising campaigns. After all, we’re fans of almost everything by Steven Meisel. Campaigns have featured the crème de la crème of the modeling world from Jessica Fennix and Sacha Quenby to Rianne Van Rompaey and Achenrin Madit. For Spring 2022, Kaia Gerber reappears as the face of the brand going solo this season striking several poses in the studio against a gray backdrop.

The end result failed to impress our forum members, however. “I expected to be blown away, but I must admit that I am not. Punk glam has never been my sort of thing, I much preferred the past couple of campaigns Meisel did for the brand,” shared aracic.

“Did Meisel have a fight with his set designer or something? Every shoot from him these days is the same plain gray studio background,” Marc10 pointed out.

Steven Meisel has the Midas touch with every magazine cover and advertising campaign he touches turning into pure gold. Just look at Zara’s mainline campaigns over the last several seasons. Since Spring 2017, campaigns (including the Spanish retailer’s inaugural beauty campaign) have been nothing short of spectacular. Meisel’s Zara Fall 2021 offering is no different. Precious Lee, Meadow Walker, Kirsten Owen, Yumi Nu, Rianne Van Rompaey, Marisa Berenson, Sasha Pivovarova, Amar Akway, Chiharu Okunugi and Raquel Zimmermann are each captured solo with Karl Templer styling Zara’s latest collection.

Ports 1961 is up there with heavyweight brands like Christian Dior and Prada in the eyes of our forum members. It’s all thanks to Karl Templer and Fabien Baron’s vision for the label since becoming co-creative directors back in 2019. From the get-go, the creative twosome secured forum favorite Steven Meisel as the fashion house’s campaign photographer. A series of splendid campaigns came our way for Spring 2020, Fall 2020, Spring 2021 and now Fall 2021. To celebrate its monumental 60th anniversary, Meisel returns to capture models Alyda Grace, Achenrin Madit and Lexi Boling for a series of flawless black and white portraits.

Once again Ports 1961’s campaign was declared a triumph. “Ports 1961 giving us the goods as usual,” applauded GERGIN.

“Who else could make such a simple studio photoshoot so effortlessly captivating and beautiful? Brilliant campaign as expected. Meisel has still got such an excellent eye for new models! I’ve never heard of Alyda before, but she’s stunning in both images, the close-up is stellar! Also great to see old favorite Lexi again as well as Achenrin who looks magnificent,” praised aracic.

We’ve been obsessing over Ports 1961 ever since Fabien Baron and Karl Templer took over the label back in 2019. Not only are the collections stellar, but the accompanying advertising campaigns are just as captivating. Of course the latter’s mainly due to the involvement of Steven Meisel. Since Spring 2020, Meisel’s campaigns (starring everyone from Kaia Gerber to Sacha Quenby) have been nothing short of spectacular. Ports 1961’s latest ads are no exception. Enter forum favorite Rianne Van Rompaey posing before a gray backdrop making a strong case for bleached eyebrows while striking dynamic poses in the crisp Spring 2021 campaign images.

The campaign got plenty of attention on our forums. “The close-up portrait is terrific. Ports 1961 campaigns have become a highlight of each season since they started working with Meisel. A wise decision, wish more would follow suit!” heralded aracic.

“I was going to say that I hated the eyebrows until I saw the portrait… Creepy and I love it!” praised kokobombon.
