Selena Gomez has been pretty much a constant on the covers of Vogue, ever since Vogue Brazil welcomed the American hitmaker onto her very first back in June 2016. Covers for Vogue Australia (on two seperate occasions), Vogue Singapore and American Vogue (again, twice) have since followed. Karla Martínez de Salas is quick to welcome Gomez back onto the cover of Vogue Mexico with the unveiling of the magazine’s January 2024 installment, as she’s captured all smiles for photographer Michael Bailey-Gates. Posing beside two giant floral displays in the charming cover photograph, the now 8-time Vogue cover girl is dressed by stylist Clare Byrne in a look from Prada’s Spring 2024 collection.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“This is so wrong… Selena looks like she wants to pee! She is going strong to be the singer with the worst covers in history. I still have NIGHTMARES about the tragedy that is her cover for V Magazine!” DK92 exclaimed.

“Why this? Starting off 2024 bad Vogue Mexico. They need a new team, obviously…” called out Xone.

“Aaaayyyyyy noo,” shrieked oaklee91, suggesting they’d seen better covers.

The Ghost of the Castle asked, “Is Selena Gomez even an ambassador to any fashion brand right now?”

“Seriously, will anything ever compare to when Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott photographed Selena for American Vogue‘s April 2017 issue? To this day, it remains the gold standard of Selena’s magazine covers and apparently no other creative individual wishes to outdo it,” noted vogue28.

And so the 2024 awards season has officially begun…

Last night, Hollywood stars descended upon the iconic Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills for the 81st annual Golden Globe awards. Stars like Margot Robbie dazzled in sequined Giorgio Armani Privé (channeling Barbie, because what else?), Taylor Swift shone bright in custom lime green Gucci while the living legend that is Meryl Streep walked the red carpet in a shimmering Dolce & Gabbana floor-length skirt and jacket. Selena Gomez had somewhat of a mini Marilyn Monroe moment before the lens of the paparazzi, wearing a ruby red dress and the even the warm Los Angeles wind understood the assignment when Hunter Schafer arrived in custom translucent Prada. Elsewhere, Jennifer Lopez nailed old-school Hollywood glamour while Elle Fanning took deep in the Balmain archives to unearth and revive a vintage Pierre Balmain dress.

Needless to say, the 2024 Golden Globe Awards proved to be an absolute fashion extravaganza and we here at theFashionSpot have curated the must-see looks of the night. Scroll further our selection:

2022 Screen Actors Guild Awards

It feels like forever since there’s been a red carpet event. (In actuality, it’s only been a few months since The Fashion Awards 2021.) But the glamour was definitely back in full force at the 2022 Screen Actors Guild Awards. And we’re certainly not complaining one bit. It’s a great way to kick off the slightly delayed 2022 award season.

The usual stars really shined bright. Cate Blanchett and Lady Gaga both wowed in Armani Privé. Elle Fanning ditched a dress in favor of a gorgeous Gucci ensemble. Jessica Chastain also suited up in Christian Dior haute couture. Julianna Margulies and Jada Pinkett Smith both went the vintage route wearing Narciso Rodriguez and Gareth Pugh respectively.

A couple of newcomers also turned heads. CODA actress Emilia Jones stunned in a truly spectacular Givenchy gown. Breakout Squid Game star and model HoYeon Jung rocked an embellished Louis Vuitton creation along with a matching hair accessory.

The jewelry was mesmerizing, too. Gaga was decked out in diamonds courtesy of Tiffany & Co. While Selena Gomez’s Bvlgari Serpenti choker was elegance personified. Her statement ring was pretty striking as well.

Scroll down to take in all of the absolutely stunning red carpet looks from the 2022 Screen Actors Guild Awards.

US Elle September 2021 : Selena Gomez by Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh MatadinGiven Nina Garcia and her love of musicians for the covers of ELLE, we knew it wouldn’t be long before Selena Gomez reappeared on the American fashion glossy. On the magazine cover front, this year is proving quite troublesome for the Texas-born songstress with both American and Australian Vogue unable to capture Selena to her fullest potential. ELLE takes another stab at profiling Selena for September 2021 enlisting Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin to step behind the lens. Selena wears a look from Chanel’s Cruise 2022 collection (including the infamous $5,150 T-shirt) selected by Alex White for the retro-inspired cover.

In the eyes of the majority of our forum members, however, the cover proved to be a huge miss. “First strike, full-body cover. Second strike, god-awful styling. Third strike, Selena Gomez,” instantly complained Benn98. “Not good. She looks like she is playing dress-up with her older sister’s clothes… This is OK for Seventeen not ELLE,” declared THD96. “Christ almighty that cover is just bad. In Selena’s defense, I don’t even think the best models could work that Chanel T-shirt,” said RedSmokeRise.

“Selena is just not photogenic — no matter the amount of transformations or high-fashion makeovers…” stated Melancholybaby. “Selena looks cute, but I’m very disappointed in Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin’s work here. Do better!” exclaimed aracic. “Kelly Osbourne if you squint,” Lucien112 pointed out. But not everyone felt the same way. “The styling is bad, but finally someone did justice to her face, she looks gorgeous with that makeup and hair color,” approved JPineapple. “I find myself just a little bit in love with this! Never been one for Selena Gomez, but this is one of those very rare instances in which she has photographed well and it’s Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin and their signature best…” raved vogue28. Vogue Australia July 2021 : Selena Gomez by Alique

You’ve probably noticed that magazines clearly love Selena Gomez. Last year Selena covered WSJ. Magazine, Interview, Allure along with Vogue Mexico. Now she pops up on Vogue Australia (in collaboration with Vogue Singapore) for July 2021. Following a “disappointing” September 2016 debut, Selena sports Burberry courtesy of Patti Wilson for the absolutely glam cover shot by Alique.

But most of our forum members aren’t fans. “This is a little better than Vogue Singapore, but still soooo bad. This lighting with the retro styling just doesn’t do Selena any favors,” complained an obviously annoyed BlueRuin.

“Not as bad as her Singapore and U.S. covers,” agreed crmsnsnwflks.

“Like everything Miss Gomez does this is average at best, but definitely better than the Vogue Singapore version…” added 90sbea.

“The beauty styling is all sorts of awful and honestly don’t think I’ve seen Selena Gomez photograph any worse. Patti Wilson’s styling overpowers Selena terribly here…” exclaimed vogue28.

“Terrible. Marie Claire Australia is miles ahead of this garbage,” declared caioherrero.

“I love Selena, but this is terrible. The styling looks tacky and the final result is pretty cheap-looking,” guimon pointed out.

Although not everyone hated the outcome. “I like it. Very edgy and modern,” admitted a definitely pleased oaklee91.

“I love this socialite, high-fashion take on Selena. Selena looking like a rich Monaco heiress on the cover,” admired dontbeadrag.

US Vogue April 2021 : Selena Gomez by Nadine Ijewere

Anna Wintour sure has a knack for securing the best of the best for Vogue‘s covers. We’ve encountered everyone from Harry Styles to Naomi Osaka to Kamala Harris to Gigi Hadid down at newsstands lately. Proving Wintour’s pull is as strong as ever. Exactly four years after her last appearance, Selena Gomez is back on the cover of the American fashion bible for April 2021. Photographed by Nadine Ijewere and styled by Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, the actress/singer was snapped in the backyard of her Los Angeles home for the cover shoot wearing a look from Anthony Vaccarello’s Saint Laurent Spring 2021 collection.

Unfortunately, Vogue‘s latest fell short. “What she’s wearing is awful and they’ve done quite a number on her with the Photoshopping. I don’t get it. She’s got good skin, no visible wrinkles. Why still retouch so aggressively?” asked Benn98.

“This is a very unflattering photo of her,” added tipi1355.

“Feel like I’ve seen this all before!” said an underwhelmed annikad.

BlueRuin was also less than impressed: “This looks very repetitive of something we’ve seen over and over again. Forgettable. The lighting is awful…not to mention the retouching…”

“Really lackluster cover. It’s great to see U.S. Vogue working with more new talent, but I wish they were able to pull out the best in them. Everything seems really poorly composed, Selena’s poses are weak…it’s just not good,” LastNight chimed in.

“Photography is subpar to the point of comedy. Anybody with a phone camera gets a Vogue cover now. Hard pass on Nadine’s work here. Shame,” proclaimed zoom.

Meanwhile, oaklee91 described the cover as “amateurish,” but do you agree?

Allure October 2020 : Selena Gomez by Micaiah Carter

is definitely in our good graces following a pair of dynamic and delightful Hunter Schafer covers that won the month of September. In an effort to keep the momentum going, Allure taps none other than Selena Gomez for October 2020. Joining the ranks of recent cover stars Billy Porter, Jihyo and Emma Chamberlain, Selena channels Mexican artist Frida Kahlo for the striking image captured by Micaiah Carter. The Rare Beauty founder applied her own makeup for the occasion (under the direction of Hung Vanngo via Zoom) and wears a leather LaQuan Smith dress teamed with a custom headpiece from Michael Schmidt both chosen by stylist Arianne Phillips.

“Honestly, I didn’t expect to like this, but I was pleasantly surprised. Selena looks beautiful and I like the colors, the layout is not too busy and everything works well together. Good one!” approved aracic.

“I like it. I like the sexy Frida Kahlo vibe…” said kokobombon.

“Wow, second stunning Allure cover in a row! Keep it up. Happy to see Micaiah is getting there. It’s not about his signature, it’s about what works for the magazine,” applauded Benn98.

Sharing the same enthusiasm for the cover was crmsnsnwflks: “That’s a breathtaking photo! I love everything about it! Allure is surprisingly slaying the magazine cover game for two consecutive months now.”

“I really love this photo of her! I like it for the cover, Selena really pulls off the Frida look, too!!” raved lauralynn025.

“I love this cover! She looks gorgeous!” voiced Handbag Queen.

WAVES wasn’t 100 percent sold. “It’s a pretty cover, Selena looks good, but there’s something on the eye area that unsettles me and the earrings were a bad choice. I do love the Frida inspiration, though.”

“A little more expression could’ve made this better. Nevertheless, lovely,” MON chimed in.

Interview Spring 2020 : Selena Gomez by Eli Russell Linnetz

We’re all for magazines giving celebrities new looks and Interview gave Selena Gomez a makeover to mark her appearance on its Spring 2020 edition. Unlike Vogue, ELLE, Harper’s Bazaar and more recently WSJ. Magazine, Selena doesn’t look like herself on Interview‘s latest. In the stylized cover shot, the singer (who is about to bless us with a beauty line) wears a mix of Balenciaga, Vetements and Wolford selected by Mel Ottenberg before the lens of Eli Russell Linnetz.

Members of our forums could barely believe their eyes. “That’s Selena?” questioned dodencebt the moment the cover struck.

“Why did they make her look like Cardi B?” asked tipi1355.

Different doesn’t always mean better. “How did she (or, more importantly, her management) agree to this? Mind-blowing,” added [Piece Of Me].

MON felt the same way: “This Selena era has been terrible. The fact that she agreed to this…choices.”

“She looks like an influencer/YouTuber just starting out, not knowing her angles. I don’t think Selena’s team is managing these shoots. It’s more in line with what the magazine wants. The competition is also fierce so she can’t play that hardball anymore,” commented Benn98.

“Don’t like this at all! It’s weird to look at. This new era of Selena is confusing, I hope she really has found inner peace, but to me it looks more like she wants to convince herself of that rather than she really feels that,” declared a less-than-impressed apple.

Selena Gomez has become a force to reckon with in the fashion industry thanks to her Puma collabs and role as brand ambassador for Coach. But it seems the singer wants to expand her horizons by joining fellow pop stars Lady Gaga and Rihanna by creating her own beauty line.

Selena’s production company, July Moon Productions, filed to trademark “Selena Gomez” at the United States Patent and Trademark Office on July 11, 2019, according to WWD. The trademark would cover a range of products, including fragrances, moisturizers, cosmetics, hair care products, etc. Basically, anything and everything having to do with beauty.

*Update: Selena just revealed that Rare Beauty will launch at Sephora this summer.
