And so the 2024 awards season has officially begun…

Last night, Hollywood stars descended upon the iconic Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills for the 81st annual Golden Globe awards. Stars like Margot Robbie dazzled in sequined Giorgio Armani Privé (channeling Barbie, because what else?), Taylor Swift shone bright in custom lime green Gucci while the living legend that is Meryl Streep walked the red carpet in a shimmering Dolce & Gabbana floor-length skirt and jacket. Selena Gomez had somewhat of a mini Marilyn Monroe moment before the lens of the paparazzi, wearing a ruby red dress and the even the warm Los Angeles wind understood the assignment when Hunter Schafer arrived in custom translucent Prada. Elsewhere, Jennifer Lopez nailed old-school Hollywood glamour while Elle Fanning took deep in the Balmain archives to unearth and revive a vintage Pierre Balmain dress.

We have a feeling we’ll be seeing a lot of Andra Day down at newsstands. We aren’t even halfway through 2021 and the Golden Globe winner has already made the cover of V Magazine, which was immediately followed by an appearance on W’s best performances issue. Laura Brown is the latest editor to secure the rising star selecting Andra to front InStyle’s June 2021 issue. The American actress and musician photographs wonderfully before the lens of photographer Chrisean Rose. In the flawless cover photograph, Andra serves face while wearing a Hermes scarf tied around her head and Mateo jewelry picked by Julia von Boehm.

Needless to say, the cover was declared a total triumph on our forums. “Beautiful! Love everything about this one,” praised aracic.

The fashion at this year’s Oscars was superb. But the beauty? Well, it was pretty stellar, too. In fact, from the hairstyles to the makeup, the 2021 Oscars beauty looks were some of the best of this modified awards season.

When it came to hairstyles, easy, breezy strands and fancy updos both proved popular. Zendaya channeled Cher with her long locks. Margot Robbie’s low ponytail was polished yet laid-back. On the other end of the spectrum, Amanda Seyfried’s pinned ‘do was pure Old Hollywood.

Deep lips were trending. Vanessa Kirby’s were accented by some well-placed blush. Eye-catching eyeshadow was also big. H.E.R. rocked purple shadow that tied in seamlessly with her Dundas ensemble. While Amanda’s cranberry shimmer shade made her eyes sparkle.

The beauty was pretty bold at last night’s 2021 Golden Globes. Which is just the way we like it. From unconventional red lips to elegant waves, there was certainly lots to love.

Andra Day combined a diffused lip and a curly bun. Julia Garner’s dynamic lashes were truly eye-catching. Cynthia Erivo’s eyes were the focus of her look thanks to amethyst liner. Anya Taylor-Joy’s long blond locks (almost) upstaged her gorgeous gown.

But wait, there’s more. Lily Collins’ cool smoky eyes smoldered. Amanda Seyfried’s retro waves were the height of glamour. And Shira Haas rocked an imperfect bun along with a borderline coral pout.

The Grammys aren’t known for being a “tame” award show like the Oscars or Golden Globes. Almost anything can happen at the Grammys, which leads to some interesting things on the red carpet. The 2019 Grammys played into this, especially on the beauty front. Where else would we see a hat so wide it deserves its own zip code? And there aren’t many occasions where we see hair extensions that go beyond a celebrity’s back.

Even with the no-holds-barred drama, the majority of the looks still mesmerized. They made us think outside of the confines of the usual red lipstick and updo we often see on the red carpet. Hair accessories and the aforementioned hats proved popular trends. As for lipstick, the 2000s-era ultra glossy nude lip was the clear winner.
