]]>And so the 2024 awards season has officially begun…
Last night, Hollywood stars descended upon the iconic Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills for the 81st annual Golden Globe awards. Stars like Margot Robbie dazzled in sequined Giorgio Armani Privé (channeling Barbie, because what else?), Taylor Swift shone bright in custom lime green Gucci while the living legend that is Meryl Streep walked the red carpet in a shimmering Dolce & Gabbana floor-length skirt and jacket. Selena Gomez had somewhat of a mini Marilyn Monroe moment before the lens of the paparazzi, wearing a ruby red dress and the even the warm Los Angeles wind understood the assignment when Hunter Schafer arrived in custom translucent Prada. Elsewhere, Jennifer Lopez nailed old-school Hollywood glamour while Elle Fanning took deep in the Balmain archives to unearth and revive a vintage Pierre Balmain dress.
Needless to say, the 2024 Golden Globe Awards proved to be an absolute fashion extravaganza and we here at theFashionSpot have curated the must-see looks of the night. Scroll further our selection:

]]>It feels like forever since there’s been a red carpet event. (In actuality, it’s only been a few months since The Fashion Awards 2021.) But the glamour was definitely back in full force at the 2022 Screen Actors Guild Awards. And we’re certainly not complaining one bit. It’s a great way to kick off the slightly delayed 2022 award season.
The usual stars really shined bright. Cate Blanchett and Lady Gaga both wowed in Armani Privé. Elle Fanning ditched a dress in favor of a gorgeous Gucci ensemble. Jessica Chastain also suited up in Christian Dior haute couture. Julianna Margulies and Jada Pinkett Smith both went the vintage route wearing Narciso Rodriguez and Gareth Pugh respectively.
A couple of newcomers also turned heads. CODA actress Emilia Jones stunned in a truly spectacular Givenchy gown. Breakout Squid Game star and model HoYeon Jung rocked an embellished Louis Vuitton creation along with a matching hair accessory.
The jewelry was mesmerizing, too. Gaga was decked out in diamonds courtesy of Tiffany & Co. While Selena Gomez’s Bvlgari Serpenti choker was elegance personified. Her statement ring was pretty striking as well.
Scroll down to take in all of the absolutely stunning red carpet looks from the 2022 Screen Actors Guild Awards.

“I genuinely thought this was her daughter,” echoed ReneSanchez. “I can’t even tell it’s her… Awful,” stated charles01. “Why did they change her bone structure?” asked kokobombon. “Both covers are terrible, Photoshop disaster aside.” “More often than not, Reese Witherspoon photographs like an absolute dream — a prime example being InStyle‘s December 2016 cover by Thomas Whiteside. The blatant use of Photoshop doesn’t offend me, but the bombshell styling just feels like a gimmick,” critiqued vogue28. Benn98 wasn’t feeling the styling, either. “Oh God, no thanks to the budget Sofía Vergara! Or is it budget Brigitte Bardot? Either way, it’s tiring and needs to stop. Do women even connect with this generic shtick?”The post Reese Witherspoon Doesn’t Look Like Reese Witherspoon on InStyle’s December 2021/January 2022 Covers appeared first on theFashionSpot.

]]>There was a real red carpet at the 2021 Oscars. Though it wasn’t as grand as previous years. (For obvious reasons.) But there were still lots of stars and gorgeous gowns to fawn over. And several trends reigned supreme.
First, there were the golden looks as striking as the Oscar statuette. Carey Mulligan wowed in a glistening Valentino haute couture creation. Andra Day’s sparkling Vera Wang made a statement. She even flashed some strategic skin, another trend.
White and red were also favored. Amanda Seyfried’s crimson Armani Privé gown served plenty of Old Hollywood glamour. Reese Witherspoon’s pleated Christian Dior featured a dynamic neckline. Meanwhile, Viola Davis’ custom Alexander McQueen white hot dress boasted an intricate bodice.
Here are all the red carpet highlights from the 2021 Oscars.

]]>The blond bombshell turned heads back then (and probably would today) in a flashy Norman Norell sequin gown.

Jumping ahead a couple decades, Joan made an impression in an emerald gown and matching jewels. Everything in the 80s was over-the-top, so it’s a bit surprising how timeless this look is.
Image: Getty
Kate kept it rather conservative when she accompanied her then beau Johnny Depp to the ceremony in the late 90s. Her high collar black dress still delivered a wow factor thanks to all those sequins.
Image: Getty
Minnie dazzled in a figure-flattering Givenchy strapless gown the following year. The train really makes the dress.
Image: Getty
Halle accepted her Best Performance by an Actress in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for TV award decked out in a gorgeous red and white embroidered Valentino gown.
Image: Getty
What do you wear to an awards show when you’re nominated for playing a transgender youth? A siren-worthy embellished Versace semi-sheer gown, of course.
Image: Getty
Sarah stepped out in a Carrie-worthy nude Richard Tyler creation.
Image: Getty
Kate made her presence felt in this revealing Atelier Versace embellished gown.
Image: Getty
Salma cut a pretty seductive silhouette in a maroon Narciso Rodriguez gown.
Image: Getty
Even back in 2004, Charlize was working Christian Dior like no other. This yellow gown with strategic ruffles looked great onstage as she collected her Best Actress honor.
Image: Getty
Sure, she’s wearing her trademark shade, but the vintage nature of this Valentino gown (and its risqué neckline) ensured its red carpet legacy.
Image: Getty
While Jean Paul Gaultier can do avant-garde, he can also craft a truly ethereal piece like the pastel draped gown Cate wore this year. Those floral accents were just icing on the cake.
Image: Getty
It was the unique copper color of Hilary’s Calvin Klein creation that made an impact here.
Image: Nikki Nelson\WENN
Scarlett was a true femme fatale in this red hot Valentino gown.
Image: Getty
Sandra’s neutral Collette Dinnigan gown showcased subtle embellishments up front and a fantastic billowy back.
Image: Getty
Embracing her boho tendencies, Sienna charmed outfitted in a cream Marchesa enriched with beading on the bodice. A braided hairstyle wrapped up the look.
Image: Getty
A nominee in 2015, Reese made waves back in 2007 when she shortened things up on the red carpet. The actress showcased the hemline on her bright yellow Nina Ricci strapless dress by selecting a pair of snazzy red sandals.
Image: Getty
While she’ll forever be associated with that epic Versace gown at the Grammys earlier in the decade, Jennifer did her best to outshine herself in this marvelously metallic Marchesa gown. She upped the ante even further with ornate Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.
Image: Getty
The very definition of a princess moment, Olivia stole the spotlight in a lavender Reem Acra strapless gown with belted ruffled skirt.
Image: Getty
Eva’s crisp white Christian Dior strapless gown featured a dynamic waist accent, but it was the star’s Van Cleef & Arpels turquoise necklace that really elevated this look.
Image: Getty
Since Beyoncé’s embroidered Elie Saab strapless gown wasn’t sparkly enough, the singer opted to increase the bling factor with a show-stopping Lorraine Schwartz diamond necklace.
Image: Getty
Drew went nude on the red carpet in the most elegant way possible. Her Atelier Versace gown offered a 3-D effect thanks to the embellished sculpted details on the shoulder and at the hip.

Keeping it sleek and simple, Emma rocked a peachy Calvin Klein Collection gown in a lesson in minimalism.

Golden goddess or throwback 70s disco queen? We think Anne falls in the former category with this Armani Privé gown.

Angelina and Atelier Versace are a winning combination. Case in point, this green embellished gown.
Image: WENN.com
Olivia’s embellished strapless Marchesa ballgown was noteworthy due to its unconventional chocolate brown hue.
Image: WENN.com
Pink and red may seem like a bad match on paper, but Natalie’s strapless Lanvin gown proved otherwise.
Image: Ian Wilson/WENN.com
Octavia’s lush lavender chiffon creation came courtesy of her favorite designer, Tadashi Shoji.
Image: WENN.com
Evan was hard to miss in this elaborate peacock-inspired halter gown by Gucci Première.
Image: WENN.com
Despite relying on Dior once again, Charlize still impressed in a soft pink couture creation with a statement bow and thigh-high slit. Cartier gems and Givenchy sandals polished off the look.
Image: WENN.com
Prada’s peacock blue silk cloqué strapless dress with satin belt was Freida’s pick for 2012. Her Chopard yellow diamond bib necklace was a stellar addition to the look.
Image: Getty
Emma’s rich Lanvin gown was amped up by that eagle belt and perhaps the most dramatic smoky eye we’ve ever seen.
Image: Getty
Remember what we said about Angelina and Atelier Versace? That red fold-over accent placed this one in a league all its own.
Image: STS/WENN.com
More proof that Tilda can hang with the best of them on the red carpet, the actress sported a blue Haider Ackermann ensemble to much acclaim in 2012. Fred Leighton jewels added even more pizazz.
Image: WENN.com
Jessica was all about structure in this colorful Oscar de la Renta strapless gown. That furry Roger Vivier clutch works surprisingly well here.
Image: Apega/WENN.com
Michelle garnered headlines in 2013 with an Alexandre Vauthier gown topped off by a golden embroidered bodice.
Image: Getty
Showing off her svelte post-baby body, the Homeland actress turned up the heat in a red Atelier Versace halter gown.
Image: Apega/WENN.com
Amy resurrected Old Hollywood glamour in a mermaid Marchesa gown.
Image: Getty
Lucy brought a fresh vibe to the 2013 ceremony with this floral Carolina Herrera gown.
Image: WENN.com
Taylor took a sophisticated turn in this plum Donna Karan Atelier work of art. The fishtail hem and train practically glided down the red carpet.
Image: WENN.com
Kerry’s semi-sheer nude Miu Miu dress was emblazoned with rhinestones in all the right places.
Image: WENN.com
It was the embellished collar and waistline on Kate’s black Alexander McQueen long sleeve gown that really popped. Oh, and that front-and-center keyhole detail probably drew some stares, too.
Image: Getty
Emily put cut-outs back on the map in this golden embroidered Michael Kors gown. Those colorful earrings lifted this look into another dimension.
Image: Getty
Lupita’s caped Ralph Lauren off-the-shoulder gown was eye-catching without a hint of try-hard.
Image: Getty
There was an almost goth feeling to Cate’s lacy black Armani Privé Fall 2013 Couture gown with open back. She increased the glam factor with Chopard diamond earrings.
Image: Getty
Emma ruled the red carpet in this dazzling Lanvin jumpsuit featuring a flashy strapless bodice and a train. Smartly keeping the focus on the amazing one-piece, the actress simply added in black pumps.
Image: Getty
Felicity delivered one of the top looks of the night decked out in Christian Dior Couture. Its teal shade really made an impression and was expertly teamed with Van Cleef & Arpels earrings.
Image: Getty
Julianne’s custom Givenchy Couture gown was a real head-turner thanks to its feathered hem. Chopard earrings perfectly polished off the look.
Image: Getty
After wowing in Ralph Lauren Collection in 2014, Lupita followed things up with a statement-making Giambattista Valli Fall 2014 Couture gown. Chopard gems completed the lovely look.
Image: Getty
It was a fiery Ralph Lauren Collection halter gown with keyhole detail and full skirt for Taylor. The only way to complement this look was by working in a scarlet Salvatore Ferragamo clutch.
Image: Getty
We were still getting to know Dakota’s red carpet style, but she got in our good graces pretty quickly with this silver strapless Chanel Fall 2014 Couture gown. Its thigh-high slit allowed her Jimmy Choo Minny sandals to shine.
Image: Getty
While she was covered up up top thanks to that coordinating capelet, Jennifer still managed to flaunt some skin by working the extended side slit on her canary yellow Giambattista Valli Couture gown, perfectly putting her sparkling Jimmy Choos on display. A glitzy clutch and stellar Harry Winston jewelry really increased the bling factor.
Image: Steve Granitz/WireImage/Getty Images
Amber’s dusty rose Gucci chiffon creation included a standout floral embroidered neckline. We simply adore how her dark red lip complemented the flowers on her gown.
Image: John Shearer/Getty Images
Zendaya took a tiered approach to the red carpet in an embroidered burgundy Marchesa. The sartorial risk-taker didn’t skimp on the accessories, either, working in a pair of eye-catching dangling earrings, a gigantic statement ring that seamlessly tied into her gown and an embellished black mini clutch.
Image: John Shearer/Getty Images
The award for the most ornate dress of 2016 (that’s right, the whole year) goes to Kate and this dazzling pink paillette-covered Dolce & Gabbana strapless gown. Equally extravagant earrings polished off the blinding look.
Image: John Shearer/Getty Images
Olivia definitely likes to stand out by blazing her own trail. Case in point: The fashion maven sported a multicolored Delpozo dress boasting a shorter hemline to the ceremony accented by a golden leaf necklace and tricolor ankle-strap sandals.
Image: George Pimentel/WireImage/Getty Images
It was a heavily embellished Zuhair Murad plunging midnight blue gown for Jenna at the 2016 edition of the awards. Silver Stuart Weitzman Nudist platform sandals capped off the scene-stealing look.
Image: Steve Granitz/WireImage/Getty Images
Diane Kruger’s semi-sheer Prada gown was amped up by a semi-sheer cape. Her silver clutch complemented the piece beautifully.
Image: George Pimentel/WireImage/Getty Images
From the puffy sleeves to that extended train, Lady Gaga’s grand Valentino haute couture gown won the night. She even earned extra credit by dyeing her hair to match.

Joey King hit the red carpet in an instantly recognizable Iris van Herpen haute couture creation. Delicate Harry Winston jewelry and flashy footwear polished off the look.

Zendaya absolutely slayed in a divine Christopher John Rogers number. Tracee Ellis Ross shined in Alexandre Vauthier Fall 2020 Haute Couture. Kerry Washington rocked Oscar de la Renta and Dolce & Gabbana. And Regina King worked the hell out of her Schiaparelli dress.
We went ahead and rounded up our favorite looks from this year’s show. See who wowed at the 2020 Emmy Awards below.

]]>The post Reese Witherspoon Has a Blast on Vanity Fair’s April 2020 Cover appeared first on theFashionSpot.
]]>It’s safe to say that Vanity Fair is back on our radar. The title closed out 2019 with a stupendous RuPaul cover and won us over with its annual Hollywood issue at the beginning of the year (although the mag disappointed us last month with a less-than-stellar Ana de Armas offering). Now Radhika Jones gives Vanity Fair‘s April 2020 cover to Reese Witherspoon three years after the star’s last appearance. Shot by Jackie Nickerson on location at Inner Gardens in Malibu and styled by Samira Nasr, the Little Fires Everywhere actress clearly had a blast during the cover shoot wearing a showstopping Giambattista Valli creation.
But were our forum members impressed? “Even when they have a safe and popular choice, they still manage to muck it up. The styling looks preposterous and I get what the expression/pose is going for, but it just looks awkward for a cover,” said Benn98.
“What the hell is she wearing?” asked a dumbfounded caioherrero.
“That’s a choice. I’m rarely disappointed with Reese’s covers, but this might be one of them,” confessed MON.

Also not overly impressed was KINGofVERSAILLES: “Both eyes closed on the cover of a magazine? That’s new. In truth, I applaud Radhika anytime she produces a cover that looks unique compared with Graydon Carter’s Vanity Fair. This certainly fits the bill and I want to like it, but it just looks a bit too much like a ‘fun’ outtake.”
Not everyone agreed, however. “I want to hate this because it’s everything I detest in a magazine cover (zero engagement with the reader from the subject and a full-length shot), but somehow I don’t loathe the outcome? Maybe it’s Reese or just the fact that it’s different and outside the norm for Vanity Fair,” voiced vogue28.
“It’s cute and it’s fun — I’m not complaining!” Srdjan exclaimed.

]]>Bling was definitely in at this year’s Screen Actors Guild Awards. The shine came from both the gowns and the millions of dollars worth of jewels attendees wore on the red gray carpet. While there were some exceptionally bright shades, black proved to be the most popular color at the ceremony. And there were some peekaboo moments with stars flashing their abs courtesy of cut-outs or cleavage with a little help from plunging necklines.

Now that the nominees for the 2020 Golden Globe Awards have been announced, we can’t stop fantasizing about what they’ll wear on the red carpet come January 5. And while some stars are bound to stick with their go-to designers (Michelle Williams will probably dazzle in Louis Vuitton, while Kirsten Dunst will be dressed up in Rodarte), we can still dream. From looks fit for royalty to next-level polka dots and even a true work of art, the pieces on our wishlist are designed to make a statement and earn spots on practically everyone’s best dressed list.
Check out the slideshow above to see which recent runway looks we picked for some of Hollywood’s biggest stars. And don’t forget to tune in to theFashionSpot for our live red carpet coverage of the 2020 Golden Globe Awards.
Let’s face it: Cate Blanchett can pull off anything. So why not aim high with this artsy Moschino item? The colorful Spring 2020 gown with strong shoulders is truly epic and deserves a turn on the red carpet.
We’re just dying for someone to wear this vibrant Roberto Cavalli Fall 2019 dress during award season and we think Nicole Kidman would work the hell out of this stunner. The boots can go, but the earrings and matching necklace make the look.
We’re hoping Jennifer Lopez takes a break from Versace for the ceremony. This embellished Alberta Ferretti Fall 2019 black gown still brings the drama thanks to that ruffle-accented sleeve.
The neon hue of this Valentino Spring 2020 dress guarantees it will stand out on the red carpet. And Cynthia Erivo has the poise needed to pull it off.
At the Golden Globes, it’s go big or go home. And this ethereal polka dot Carolina Herrera Spring 2020 gown fits the bill. Margot Robbie always turns heads, but she would stop everyone in their tracks with this grand gown.
Saoirse Ronan has great fashion sense and we’d love to see her rock this billowy, feather-accented sky blue gown from the Givenchy Fall 2019 Haute Couture collection. It’s majestic enough for the Globes and those flashy dangling earrings are the only accessory she’d need.
This Armani Privé Fall 2019 ensemble is fit for a queen.
There’s no denying that Charlize Theron looks amazing in sparkling, slinky dresses. But we think this bombshell-worthy Elie Saab Fall 2019 Haute Couture gown and matching choker are calling her name.
The former Friends star loves a good black dress. But this Elie Saab Spring 2020 pick ups the ante with its intricate design and leg reveal.
This bright blue dress from Valentino’s Fall 2019 Haute Couture collection is just the right side of sheer. And we're all for seeing Scarlett Johansson sport a dress with a fuller skirt.
With a Vogue cover under her belt, you can bet big designers will be clamoring to dress Phoebe Waller-Bridge. We think she would really shine in this heavily embellished Armani Privé Fall 2019 dress.
