IMAGE | LOUISVUITTON.COM

For some of us fashion folk, the debut Spring 2024 collection of Pharrell Williams as Louis Vuitton’s menswear creative director is still fresh in our minds. Back in June, the American record producer-turned-designer staged his first Louis Vuitton offering and closed off the famous Pont Neuf bridge in Paris for the occasion – to much fanfare. Attended by the likes of Beyoncé, Rihanna and Zendaya, Pharrell’s showcase was full of cultural significance and reimagined LV iconography. The buzz-worthy collection has since made its way into Louis Vuitton stores across the globe and is now readily available online for purchase. Here at theFashionSpot, we have handpicked just 10 of the most ridiculously fabulous pieces to swoon over.

Scroll further for jackets costing $150,000.00 (yes, seriously), some must-have cozy shearling boots and even an exclusively made-to-order skateboard:

#1 Speedy P9 Bandoulière 50:

Creative Director Pharrell Williams revisits the iconic Speedy P9 Bandoulière 50 Monogram Leather bag in luxuriously soft and supple calfskin with a bold primary colorway. The Monogram is printed on the Speedy using a sophisticated silk-screen technique that reproduces the twill aspect of the Monogram on canvas, a blurry, almost hand-painted effect ($12400.00).

Themed issues aren’t exactly anything new, and this time last year, Vogue Greece gave us ‘The Resolutions Issue’ with Lily Collins as their cover star. Twelve months later for January 2024, the magazine is following in the footsteps of Vogue Italia (in 2021) and centering its latest around all-things animals. Via the lens of photographer Richard Phibbs across a duo of rather sweet and charming covers, Kris Grikaite becomes the title’s cover girl in the process. Kris poses with some obedient canine companions in cover one (below) wearing Gucci. For the second alternative cover (after the jump), the Russian model of Lithuanian descent who first made a splash within the world of modeling just aged 16 as a Prada exclusive, poses alongside a friendly donkey and showcases a Louis Vuitton creation.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“The colors of the second cover are absolutely gorgeous, I just love those shades of green and how fresh and effortless the two covers are. A very nice start to 2024 for Vogue Greece!” approved vogue28.

“The second cover is beautiful,” DK92 agreed.

Also very much a fan was forum member mepps, commenting: “I’ve always loved this girls face. So preternatural and otherworldly. I think both covers are strong.”

Aracic said: “I also appreciate the soft colors and the beauty of that first cover, but there’s a disconnect between Kris and the animal that takes me out of the fantasy. She is drop dead gorgeous, tho!”

“That donkey is serving and taking all the attention away from Kris. The second cover looks like a backstage shot with some stray dogs which happened to be on set,” remarked avonlea002.

“I love Kris. Now she has her moment, the cover of Vogue Greece right after Vogue Turkey. I hope we get to see more of her,” shared fangora.

Back in April, Louis Vuitton introduced us to a new advertising series entitled Horizons Never End, in a homepage to the Horizon collection designed by Marc Newson. The first outing saw the storied French fashion house embrace Lionel Messi, Jackson Wang and Gisele Bündchen as the faces of the monogrammed luggage pieces, each captured around different locations across the globe. In the latest installment to the on-going series, Vuitton welcomes us aboard a train as it ventures into the the mountainous region of Switzerland – and model Fei Fei Sun joins us on the ride. Captured by Glen Luchford and with Emmanuelle Alt on styling duties, we’re able to bare witness to the majestic scenery throughout the campaign, as we traverse through snow-covered mountains (with an array of Louis Vuitton luggage in tow, of course).

What did members of theFashionSpot forums think of the campaign, you ask? “I love it! The train shots are superb,” raved Ihhbl.

“That’s the train to the Jungfrau glacier in Grindelwald, Switzerland. All I can think how much they must have paid to get those shots. It’s normally packed with tourists,” pointed out swizzi.

“These are beautiful,” ivano admired.

Vogue28 commented: “The train setting immediately took me back to Eva Herzigova’s fierce campaign for Fall 2002 by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott! This is different in stark comparison but I’m a fan, nonetheless. Always a pleasure to see Fei Fei Sun and that setting is just wonderful…”

Vanity Fair France December 2023/January 2024 : Léa Seydoux by Nikolas Lorieux

More often than not, Léa Seydoux is one of those actresses who just knows how to work a camera lens. Whether she’s fronting magazines like British Harper’s Bazaar or ELLE France – Seydoux’s covers usually receive a standing ovation here on theFashionSpot. Always a one to support homegrown talent, Vanity Fair France welcomes the French actress onto their final issue of the year for December 2023/January 2024. In the polished and immaculate cover image lensed by Nikolas Lorieux, stylist Alexandra Imgruth opted to dress Léa in a look designed by Nicolas Ghesquière for Louis Vuitton (for not-so-obvious reasons). Imgruth also selected a show-stopping and statement diamond necklace from Francesca Amfitheatrof’s latest Louis Vuitton high-jewelry collection to finish off the cover look.

Per usual, the all-important question remained immediately upon the cover dropping: were our forum members an impressed bunch? “What in the Madame Tussaud is going on?” quizzed Freespirit.

“Looks like overly-Photoshopped bathroom selfie,” avonlea002 critiqued.

PowerDroid felt the same way, exclaiming: “The retouching is so amateurish, what the heck!”

“Not this lighting…” shrieked blurorchid in total disbelief.

Ihhbl simply described the whole entire outcome as “catastrophic”.

“Must be the only one who is able to tolerate this! I’m kinda into it, feels somewhat festive and celebratory which I can appreciate for an end-of-year issue and I just love how polished and immaculate-looking everything is. Sure, I’ve seen better but this is certainly one of the better magazine covers I’ve came across this month…” reasoned vogue28.

“It’s nice but it could’ve/should’ve been better,” stated WAVES.

W Magazine Volume #6 2023 : Emma Stone by Yorgos Lanthimos

W Magazine, you’ve been doing amazing sweetie. The Fall Fashion extravaganza back in September served up a total of six sensational covers for us to choose from down at the newsstand (with models-of-the-moment Kaia Gerber, Anok Yai, Gigi Hadid, Mona Tougaard, Liu Wen and Kendall Jenner). Sofia Coppola was soon reuniting which master photographer Steven Meisel with the unveiling of Volume #5 and now at the request of editor Sara Mooves, Emma Stone and Yorgos Lanthimos team up for W‘s latest dedicated to all-things art. The Greek filmmaker directs the American actress (who stars in Lanthimos’ black comedy fantasy film Poor Things) in the cover shoot for Volume #6, dressed in a Nicolas Ghesquière-designed look from Louis Vuitton’s Cruise 2024 collection (a brand to which Stone is brand ambassador).

W‘s latest had members of our forums a divided bunch. “I don’t hate it but also don’t like it,” voiced Kimy Jo the second the cover came to light.

“Looks pretentious and boring,” critiqued thenewclassic.

“After those terrific model covers by Mert Alas back in September, which was followed up with the divine Sofia Coppola cover by Steven Meisel… I feel somewhat disappointed by W on this occasion. Not a fan of this cover, whatsoever!” vogue28 exclaimed.

Mikel, however, was quick to describe the cover as “gorgeous”.

“I like it, it’s different,” admired blueorchid.

“I also think this is quite nice, I like the graphic design of the cover. Very well done! W is really having a little renaissance lately, no?” asked aracic.

Here at theFashionSpot, we have still not forgiven the powers that be at Condé Nast for giving Eugénie Trochu the green light to change Vogue Paris to Vogue France. At the very least, however, 5 out of the magazine’s 10 cover stars throughout 2023 have been actual fashion models. Trochu ends the year on a high, bestowing upon us Ida Heiner as Vogue France’s double December 2023/January 2024 – which marks the model’s first-ever Vogue cover appearance. In the striking cover image captured on location at Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Danish beauty strikes a commanding pose for photographer Théo de Gueltzl, dressed in a custom look from Louis Vuitton by designer Nicolas Ghesquière (in collaboration with artist Philippe Parreno).

As always, the all-important question remained: were the members of our forums impressed? “Maybe I’m just really not that into contemporary fashion, but I don’t like this at all. It’s not elevated enough to even be registered as high-fashion. It’s just an image of a girl in a cape, one that I simply do not care for,” critiqued aracic the moment the cover struck.

“What Ida is wearing is very caricatured, it looks like a superhero costume!” scolded DK92.

“A magazine that once had Dalí, Fellini, Hitchcock, Chagall, Miró, Hockney and Kurosawa as guest editors of their end-of-year issue is now giving us fashion cosplay in a corridor of an arts center,” tigerrouge chimed in.

Also far from impressed was MON, commenting: “What really disappoints me is the fact that there’s a budget but what’s lacking is the creative direction. You had Ida there, on this beautiful day, with beautiful lighting.. and somehow she ended up just standing there.”

“Once again, another cover of Vogue France which oh so perfectly shows off the stark contrast between the magazine now and what once was. The December/January issues of French Vogue always felt rich, vibrant, and luxurious and whilst this isn’t the worst cover I’ve come across, it’s still just so… subpar and substandard,” voiced forum member vogue28.

Do you share the same sentiments? See more of Ida Heiner via the lens of Théo de Gueltzl and join the conversation, here.

Vanity Fair December 2023/January 2024 : Greta Gerwig by Norman Jean Roy

Throughout 2023, Vanity Fair hasn’t exactly produced an array of buzz-worthy covers for us to rave over. Not even the magazine’s annual Hollywood edition broke the internet. You could argue VF‘s best cover over the past twelve months, was just last month when Radhika Jones resurrected a previously-unpublished photograph of Barbra Streisand. Closing out the year fronting the title’s double December 2023/January 2024 is Greta Gerwig, who after a mega successful year with the release of the critically-acclaimed Barbie movie poses for photographer Norman Jean Roy. In the serene cover portrait, the American actress, writer and director cozies up in a knitted Louis Vuitton sweater, selected for the occasion by stylist Natasha Royt.

Vanity Fair‘s latest, however, had our forum members divided in their opinion. “Norman Jean Roy is on a roll. It seems like he’s taking a lot of the jobs that would have been for Annie Leibovitz,” expressed DK92.

“Oh wow! I have admired Greta for ages and I am so happy for her. This cover is so beautiful,” instantly approved forum member iriswills.

“It is a lovely side portrait. The color palette reflects the winter months,” admired MModa.

“The colors do indeed reflect the colder months perfectly,” replied vogue28. “I do, however, loathe of the use of a side portrait as a cover image. The cover overall just feels rather lifeless, cold and uninviting.”

“I like Greta Gerwig and what she has produced. This cover is just alright,” oaklee91 chimed in.

Mepps most certainly wasn’t feeling it, commenting: “The cover is as dull as she is!”

As creative director of Louis Vuitton, Nicolas Ghesquière has called upon a whole rooster of talent to photograph his advertising campaigns for the storied French fashion house. The French-Belgian designer’s selections have included everyone from Bruce Weber to Ethan James Green and Steven Meisel to David Sims. Jamie Hawkesworth is the latest photographer endorsed by Ghesquière, with the unveiling of Louis Vuitton’s Cruise 2024 advertising campaign. Echoing the setting of the show, the campaign’s backdrop is that of Lake Maggiore in Italy, with Ghesquière’s cast (including Chu Wong, Mica Argañaraz, Valentina Castro, Ida Heiner and Emma Laird) captured by Hawkesoworth during golden hour, on the island of Isola Bella.

Members of our forums were left in awe. “Maybe my favorite Vuitton campaign since Fall 2021. Jamie Hawkesoworth is perfect for Nicolas’s work,” admired Lola701.

“I love this so much, the warmth, everything. It’s actually made me quite emotional, instantly took me back to holidays with my mother at Lake Como,” shared forum member upNorth.

“Some wonderful images here,” fruitbasedsnack chimed in.

Sharing the same level of enthusiasm toward the campaign was vogue28, voicing: “Admittedly I am no fan of Jamie Hawkesworth but this is one gorgeous campaign, and far outshines Louis Vuitton’s mainline campaign for Fall 2023. The colors are gorgeous, as is the lighting and the Lake Como setting is utterly magical.”

“Wonderful campaign. Very beautiful and warm images!” enthused thiago.
