The post Steven Meisel’s Joyous & Playful Chanel Chance Fragrance Campaign Feels “Like a Breath of Fresh Air” for 2024 appeared first on theFashionSpot.
]]>Chanel is commencing the new year by ushering in a vibrant, youthful and unapologetically joyful advertising campaign for its line of Chance fragrances. Back in 2015, the fabled French fashion house’s previous Chance campaign invited us into a fantasy-filled bowling alley (as imagined by famed French creative Jean-Paul Goude). We witnessed a jubilant dance audition via the lens of Goude also for the 2019 installment and make no mistake we’re back amongst the fun for 2024.
This time, however, Chanel opted to commission the renowned French film director Jean-Pierre Jeunet for the dazzling funfair-inspired commercial, in addition to hiring Steven Meisel to capture the accompanying print campaign. Amiah Miller, Zuza Bryk, Mathilda Gvarliani and Maty Fall embody the four Chanel Chance fragrances for the occasion, each sat perched atop giant oversized bottles of the scent and dressed in looks evoking the spirit of the brand during the 90s.
“Looks like Anna Sui by Meisel,” voiced Scotty.
Avonlea002 agreed, echoing: “Yikes, indeed very Anna Sui. The retouching is absurd. Their legs looks like sausages.”
Yet not everyone was left so underwhelmed. “Love the print campaign, it is fun and fashionable. Great, fresh casting too,” approved MModa.
“Steven Meisel’s print campaign imagery feels like a total breath of fresh air! I love how fresh, vibrant, youthful and playful the images themselves are. Also adore the styling with those 90s-inspired cropped jackets and how each look complements the Chance bottle – very nicely done. Maty Fall’s smile here is a delight,” raved forum member vogue28.
“Fun campaign,” admired couturefan.

]]>The post “Elegant, Tasteful and Classy” Is What Ethan James Green & Sofia Coppola Serve Up for M Le Magazine du Monde appeared first on theFashionSpot.
]]>Since 1992, it has been common knowledge that Sofia Coppola is capable of delivering stellar magazine covers (when Steven Meisel first photographed Coppola for Vogue Italia). Since that time, we’ve witnessed the American film director and screenwriter take to the covers of Vogue Paris, The Gentlewoman, WSJ. Magazine, AnOther and W Magazine (to name a select few) with stellar results. M Le Magazine du Monde is Coppola’s latest cover conquest, to which she poses before the lens of photographer Ethan James Green. In the chic and timeless black and white cover portrait, stylist Sydney Rose Thomas selected a black tweed Chanel Jacket, a white t-shirt from Miu Miu and a pair of Levi’s for Sofia to wear, which adds to the charm and sense of understated elegance. We are OBSESSED.
“Super boring and basic, but that’s kind of who she is. Love her Chanel jacket though,” voiced mepps.
“I love her but I wish it was more lively!” Lola701 wrote.
“I love how consistent Coppola’s style has been for the last 25-30 years. No matter who photographs her, the publication in which she appears, or the brands she’s wearing (Chanel on Chanel on Chanel these days, but it’s not always been the case), she always looks completely herself, and in command of her own image,” admired forum member KoV.
Vogue28 raved: “I think this is just delightful, love every single element to this whole cover shoot from the fact Sofia posed for Ethan James Green to the Chanel jacket and Levi’s jeans combo on the cover. The whole entire cover shoot is so elegant, tasteful and classy – Sofia Coppola personified, IMO. Vogue nowadays could never!”

]]>We’ll take our Luigi & Iango fix at any given moment! Whether the photographic duo are photographing campaigns for Ermanno Scervino or producing spectacular magazine covers – we here at theFashionSpot believe the creative twosome never put a foot wrong (well… almost).
Over at Vanity Fair Italia, Simone Marchetti appears to have taken a shining to Luigi & Iango, having commissioned the pair to capture the likes of Madonna, Kylie Jenner and Lila Moss (to name a few) throughout 2023. Marchetti is getting 2024 off to a positive start, enlisting Luigi & Iango to reunite with Penélope Cruz with the unveiling of Italian Vanity Fair‘s January 2024 edition. In the flawless cover portrait, the Spanish actress wears a denim jacket from Chanel (to which Cruz is brand ambassador) and an oversized hat from Hat and Spicy.
“Fabulous! Luigi & Iango for Vanity Fair has become the most exciting pairing for me personally and I eagerly anticipate every new cover that they shoot for the magazine. This one is no exception to their good and glamorous streak,” aracic applauded.
“Glorious! A beautiful winter-y cover!” admired Velasco.
“It’s damn crazy Vanity Fair is stronger than other main titles of Condé Nast,” remarked ivano.
Justaguy agreed, echoing: “Really nice cover of Penélope. Vogue should be embarrassed!”
WAVES was also very much a fan, commenting: “Thanking the Gods for L&I giving us this inch of necessary glam every other month!”
“Gorgeous, and of course it’s all just so right up my street! Not one single component for me to complain about here, just gorgeous photographs of a gorgeous woman. Penélope Cruz and Luigi & Iango have always proved to be a winning combo, and this is just another prime example,” vogue28 raved.

]]>As head of editorial content of Vogue Spain, make no mistake that Inés Lorenzo has favored models on the Spanish fashion bible’s front covers, as opposed to mainstream celebrities. Throughout 2023 alone, Lorenzo has welcomed everyone from Anok Yai to Amber Valletta and Devyn Garcia to Grace Elizabeth as cover girls. Helping round out the festivities and welcomed onto the December 2023 edition as cover girl is Sara Caballero. Via the lens of Coco Capitán, the Chilean-Spanish beauty who has taken the modeling industry by storm ever since stepping out onto the Christian Dior catwalk during the Cruise 2024 presentation, is captured dripping in head-to-toe Chanel in the portrait cover image, as chosen for the occasion by stylist Alejandro Gómez Palomo.
Vogue Spain’s latest completely divided members of theFashionSpot forums. “I like the color scheme but OMG that font,” exclaimed kokobombon the moment the cover struck.
“Horrible text indeed. Ugh, reminds me off to the pandemic kids issue of Vogue Italia. The portrait itself is OK,” added ivano.
Urban Stylin ultimately agreed, echoing: “Beautiful color scheme even if Caballero’s expression is not too exciting. The font ruins everything!”
“Every time Vogue comes together with Coco Capitán, the result is never good,” voiced caioherrero.
“There’s nothing appealing about this cover, including the model. Also, who does Coco Captain know, that keeps giving her fashion work?” asked a dumbfounded mepps.
“I’m a fan of Coco Capitán’s style, but I’m sure other pictures would’ve made a better cover,” Petrus said.
Vogue28 soon commented: “Not mad at the art direction with this one – I like the Vogue masthead color choice and how it complements the Chanel. However, it’s all just so gloomy, downbeat and uninviting for what’s supposed to be such a joyous and festive month.”

]]>There’s been a distinct lack of festive glamour with the covers of our fave fashion glossies throughout the month of December this year. For instance, British ELLE chose to serve up a 90s fashion revival with Rosemary Ferguson and Vogue Germany is part of the clique who opted to forgo even the slightest hint of glamour with their December 2023 offering also. In the process, the German fashion bible embraces Greta Hofer as their final cover girl of the year. The Austrian model who walked just about every major fashion show during the recent Spring 2024 season (including the likes of Dolce & Gabbana and Christian Dior), gazes down the lens of photographer Julia Noni. Dressed by stylist Ondine Azoulay, Greta dons a Chanel jacket in the sleek and minimalist cover shot.
“Beautiful cover!” declared forum member MModa upon checking out the cover.
Also very much a fan of the outcome was oaklee91, commenting: “Loving it!”
Yet not everyone was so overjoyed at the sight of the cover. “Far too dreary, lifeless and sterile for my taste. Once again, I find myself utterly dumbfounded how there’s just zero sense of joy with these December covers. It’s the holiday season! Where’s the fun, where’s the glamour, where’s the art of dressing up? Goodness!” expressed a disgruntled vogue28.

]]>The post Forum Members Review Chanel’s Pre-Fall 2024 Collection, Staged in Manchester appeared first on theFashionSpot.
]]>As announced back in July, Chanel has flocked to the city of Manchester in the North of England to stage its annual Métiers d’Art collection. Previous locations for the celebration of the iconic French fashion house’s savoir-faire collection have included Moscow, Dallas, Rome, and Hamburg while last year’s showcase spectacular was held in Dakar. Following a show staged in Edinburgh back in 2012, Chanel has ventured back onto UK soil for 2023, welcoming the fashion pack into the Northern Quarter of Manchester. Staged on a cold and rainy December night, models paraded Virginie Viard’s latest creations up and down pub-lined Thomas Street, rocking an array of designs which paid homage to the Northern English city – from its mercantile history in textile manufacturing to its rich musical legacy.
Scroll further to read the opinions of theFashionSpot’s unfiltered forum members, regarding Virginie Viard’s latest outing as Chanel creative director:
“There are actually some cute pieces here and there.” [couturefan]
“This collection is pretty cohesive as far as silhouettes and material usage go. Usually Viard’s collections are a mish-mash of random crap. Usually a runway with looks of just only what could be salvaged. Viard finally put out a whole collection of non-ugly silhouettes. Chanel – of all brands – should never show a bad silhouette.” [Nimsay]
“It’s fine. I can see why longtime stans would hate post-Lagerfeld Chanel, but this is very much still Chanel.” [GoldenPetals]
“Can you image what Karl would have done if he were to present in Manchester? Chanel + football tackiness = yummy! Instead, we get this drab, vintage Burberry with Chanel tweed. Such a missed opportunity from Viard, again.” [RaisinBoy]
“It’s not my cup of tea but this is a good collection by Virginie’s standards. I just feel like we are missing the spirit of Métiers d’Art, which was really a bridge between couture and RTW.” [Lola701]
“Having all the looks paired with flat shoes is one of the vilest things I have ever seen in fashion. Disgusting. The silhouettes are definitely better but the prints and some colors choices are as always a disgrace.” [WAVES]
“To send the same cookie-cutter tweed suits they could very well have stayed in Paris. The only great Manchester thing here is Karen Elson walking for Chanel again.” [jeanclaude]

]]>The post Dive Into the Allure of Les Symboles de Chanel – Your New Personalized Illuminating Powder appeared first on theFashionSpot.
]]>Step into the captivating realm of Les Symboles de Chanel, a mesmerizing collection unveiled just in time for the holiday revelry. Picture yourself adorned with these opulent marvels, casting a captivating radiance upon your winter complexion. In the world of Chanel, it transcends mere makeup; these illuminating powders become talismanic embodiments, weaving personal narratives and the intricate tapestry of Chanel’s history.
Known for her notorious superstitions, Gabrielle Coco Chanel, in addition to her zealous creativity and perfectionism, harbored a fascination for symbols and numbers, notably the number 5. Confiding in master perfumer Beaux, she revealed, “I present my dress collections on the fifth of May, the fifth month of the year, and so we will let this sample number five keep the name it has already; it will bring good luck,” Indeed, luck has graced her creations, infused with the craftsmanship of the master.
Whether Mademoiselle’s infatuation with this number influenced the decision to craft five distinct Les symboles de Chanel illuminating powders is unclear. What’s certain is that these illuminating powders embody her craft’s passion and mystical love, paying a perfect tribute. The palette, available in Warm Gold, Pearly White, and Precious Coral shades, strategically contours and illuminates your face with a luxurious sheen, making it an exquisite addition to your holiday collection. The Les Symboles de Chanel illuminating powders not only captivate the eyes but also diffuse seamlessly on your skin, inviting you to explore the brilliance that celebrates CHANEL.
These illuminating powders are a constellation of creativity that serves as a heartfelt homage to Mademoiselle’s enduring passion. Let’s take a look at each of them!
Step into the powerful world of “Le Lion,” a nod to Mademoiselle’s Zodiac sign, symbolizing strength and passion. Just as she surrounded herself with lion figurines, this illuminating powder embodies the enduring presence and fierceness of this majestic creature. This radiant creation infuses your skin with a bold and passionate glow, a testament to the very DNA of Chanel.
Behold the celestial allure of “La Comète,” inspired by Mademoiselle’s belief in stars as harbingers of good luck. This Les Symboles de Chanel palette is a cosmic masterpiece, lovingly embossed with two stars that symbolize the brand’s mystical brilliance. As stars guide the night sky, this creation guides your makeup routine with an enchanting touch of luck and cosmic inspiration.
Transporting us to the early nineties, this Les Symboles de Chanel palette is yet another nostalgic journey. Mesmerized by symmetrical petals, Mademoiselle drew inspiration from dandies’ jacket lapels adorned with the Camellia flower. Pinned to her belt, Coco’s Camellia became a muse to her 1923 collection. The gorgeous palette captures the essence of the harmonious flower, allowing you to adorn your skin with the timeless beauty and grace of this iconic bloom.
Discover style evolution with “La Chaîne,” a Les Symboles de Chanel palette that traces the history of Chanel’s iconic chain straps. Introduced in 1955, these chains added style and functionality to Chanel’s leather bags. The palette beautifully incorporates the gilded mesh, echoing the couture style synonymous with Chanel. Let your skin be adorned with a touch of history and the undeniable style of this exquisite creation.
Indulge in the timeless allure of “Les Perles,” a palette inspired by Coco Chanel’s deep fascination with pearls. Adorned with mini-embossed powder pearls arranged in the iconic Chanel symbol, this palette captures the essence of femininity, radiance, and elegance. Just as pearls illuminate all skin tones, this creation adds a layer of subtle radiance to your face, embodying the beauty and sophistication cherished by Mademoiselle herself.

]]>From Gigi Hadid to Nyaueth Riam, models have been high on Yeliz Çiçek’s agenda when it comes to selecting Vogue Netherlands’ cover stars. Not allowing standards to slip as we head into 2024, three of modeling’s finest front four collectable covers. Across the quartet of Agata Serge-shot December 2023 covers, Karen Elson, Sasha Pivovarova and Amanda Murphy help ring in Vogue Netherlands’ party-themed latest. Complete with styling from Sarah Gore Reeves, the industry icons sports looks from fashion houses Chanel and Saint Laurent, each captured on location within the grounds of Wave Hill, New York.
With such a stellar cast, the covers immediately caught the attention of theFashionSpot’s forum members. “‘It’s the PARTY SEASON’ but these are the results? Great iconic models, but weird concept/execution. Easily forgettable,” complained MModa.
“Oh no! Was so excited by the cast too,” added Urban Stylin.
MON simply could not have agreed more, adding: “The cast is stellar, but the results leave much to be desired.”
“Party season and Agata Serge opted to shoot outdoors, under gloomy grey skies. Makes sense. Criticism aside, it’s the Sasha Pivovarova cover that is winning me over here… it’s just so clear, stark and direct that I struggle to dislike it,” voiced vogue28.
WAVES said: “Karen’s cover is the best one. She always knows how to pose, so no wonder why she’s still around after such a long time.”
“My favorite is by far Karen Elson’s. Love the pose, the expression and the vibes,” admired penny609.

]]>The post Meet 31 Le Rouge, Chanel’s Most Expensive & Most Exclusive Lipstick appeared first on theFashionSpot.
]]>When Chanel introduced a lipstick sheathed in a faceted glass case, it wasn’t merely an object of desire; it was an artistic marvel captivating fans and followers like never before. Chanel’s 31 Le Rouge lipsticks are a glassy marvel, enchanting as Cinderella’s glass heels, exuding a similar magical allure.
Dubbed a “true technical feat” by the French couturier house, the lipstick case boasts no trace of plastic. Entrusted to a Japanese glassmaker, the lipstick case draws inspiration from the legendary mirrored Art Deco staircase at 31 Rue Cambon apartment in Paris.
Chanel’s iconic apartment at 31 Rue Cambon serves as a muse for many creations. Perched atop a Chanel boutique and couture salon, this apartment embodies the essence of Mademoiselle Chanel and her universe. Hence, you know a Chanel lipstick is truly unique when it forsakes its iconic black case and transforms entirely into glass and aluminum, capturing the essence of the coveted apartment.
Sylvie Legastelois, Chanel’s Director of Packaging Creation and Graphic Identity, expressed in an interview with All I.C. magazine, “I didn’t want an ounce of plastic in this object. I wanted to look to the future. To create a glass lipstick was a dream.” The process of creating the 31 Le Rouge lipstick took four years, from the case to the individual shades, making each piece an exceptional work of art.
An elegant white-lacquer box, holding one 31 Le Rouge lipstick and two refills, lets you pick from the 12 available satin hues. The carefully curated shades channel the creative spirit of Chanel’s couture creations, ateliers, and iconic apartments. Formulated with Chanel’s exclusive Gardenia Oil, these lush shades promise intense hues, a satin finish, and extended wearability. The enriching ingredients make lips appear moisturized, firmer, and smoother than other lipsticks.
1. ROUGE BEIGE shade of the 31 Le Rouge lipstick collection, reminiscent of Chanel evening gowns, is a pearly beige hue with an impeccable finish, perfect for daytime wear.
2. ROUGE CROISIÈRE, a corally peach shade with a vibrant sheen, exudes a lovely summertime vibe, paying homage to Chanel’s mid-season Cruise shows.
3. ROUGE ROMAN, an intense rosewood shade in the 31 Le Rouge lipstick collection, is inspired by the leather-bound books in the 31 Rue Cambon apartment’s library. Upon application, it imparts a silky purplish hue.
4. ROUGE FLOU captures the essence of flowy chiffon, voile, and silk fabrics with its bright, warm, reddish hue reminiscent of creations at the apartment.
5. ROUGE PREMIER, with its scarlet red shade, celebrates the memory of Mademoiselle Chanel, offering a nod to her daily ritual — a sweep of lipstick that also marked her arrival at work.
6. ROUGE IMAGINAIRE brings a bold touch with its pearlescent fuchsia shade, paying homage to the bold Eastern-inspired vision in all of Chanel’s collections.
7. ROUGE PRIVÉ adds a mystical quotient in the 31 Le Rouge Lipstick collection with its brownish beauty. It celebrates the mysterious elements in the Chanel collections.
8. ROUGE FÉTICHE, a deep crimson shade in the 31 Le Rouge lipstick collection, is a touch of good luck, reminiscent of the ribbons that Mademoiselle wore for good luck.
9. ROUGE TAILLEUR, a luxurious raspberry red, draws inspiration from the braided trims of Chanel jackets, known for adding structure to the fashion looks.
10. ROUGE BYZANTIN, a burnish red in the 31 Le Rouge lipstick collection, imparts a brownish plum silky hue inspired by the House’s symbolic Baroque-type jewelry.
11. ROUGE COROMANDEL draws inspiration from the Coromandel screens lining the Rue Cambon apartment, offering a beautiful reddish-brown shade that flatters every skin tone.
12. ROUGE 2.55, described as a deep garnet red, pays homage to the legendary Chanel handbags.
Priced at $195 each, every lipstick comes wrapped in a leather sleeve, providing protection for the faceted glass case. Choose from black, white, or silver sleeves to suit your preference.
Essentially, the 31 Le Rouge lipsticks are more than a collection. They encapsulate everything that defines Chanel as a brand—its essence, values, and standing in the fashion world. To say the least, they are true gems—lipsticks that look like diamonds and glide like a dream.
