Major fashion brands have insisted the fashion pack travel to numerous different countries across the globe for their Pre-Fall 2024 presentations. Balenciaga staged its latest fashion showcase extravaganza on location in Los Angeles and Chanel traveled to Manchester. Maria Grazia Chiuri, however, is remaining in Paris with the unveiling of Christian Dior’s Pre-Fall 2024 collection. Grazia took inspiration from Marlene Dietrich, who was a Christian Dior client and was famously quoted as saying “No Dior, no Dietrich” when Alfred Hitchcock selected the German actress for the role in the 1950’s film Stage Fright. As a result, the collection oozes a boyish charm with the silhouettes taking major influence from the 19th century. Dior’s first female creative director also took inspo from New York City and Monsieur Dior’s take on serving the American market in the late 1940s.

“MGC needs to get more into her Galliano bag. her clothes are only interesting when she does. Oherwise it’s just chic and boring.” [gallianostan]

“115 looks just to let us know how good the whole film set is.” [jeanclaude]

“Heels are nice, some of the pants are great too, but overall it’s giving 1930s depression era socialite lesbian.” [disco54]

“That would be decent costume designs for a period WWII drama movie, so the complete antithesis of Christian Dior designs…” [yslforever]

“One of the most bland and boring collections I’ve seen in a long time. And basically it doesn’t even look French so it doesn’t look Dior. Really unappealing and quite depressing too.” [Abracai]

For some of us fashion folk, the debut Spring 2024 collection of Pharrell Williams as Louis Vuitton’s menswear creative director is still fresh in our minds. Back in June, the American record producer-turned-designer staged his first Louis Vuitton offering and closed off the famous Pont Neuf bridge in Paris for the occasion – to much fanfare. Attended by the likes of Beyoncé, Rihanna and Zendaya, Pharrell’s showcase was full of cultural significance and reimagined LV iconography. The buzz-worthy collection has since made its way into Louis Vuitton stores across the globe and is now readily available online for purchase. Here at theFashionSpot, we have handpicked just 10 of the most ridiculously fabulous pieces to swoon over.

Scroll further for jackets costing $150,000.00 (yes, seriously), some must-have cozy shearling boots and even an exclusively made-to-order skateboard:

Creative Director Pharrell Williams revisits the iconic Speedy P9 Bandoulière 50 Monogram Leather bag in luxuriously soft and supple calfskin with a bold primary colorway. There wasn’t much to criticize when Edward Enninful bestowed upon us modeling icon Iman as British Vogue‘s January 2023 cover star, who via the lens of photographer Nadine Ijewere was finally making her long-overdue debut as a British Vogue cover star. We ran out to grab ourselves the TWO dynamic covers.

February | Vogue Italia with Tatjana Patitz by Peter Lindbergh:

Vogue Italia was the only magazine to give up its front cover to the late Tatjana Patitz, who had delivered the publication an endless array of wonderful fashion imagery throughout her lengthy and remarkable career. For February 2023, the Italian fashion bible opted to reprint a poignant photograph of the German supermodel from 1990 by famed photographer Peter Lindbergh. A tribute cover done both tastefully and beautifully.

March | Vogue Poland with Anja Rubik by Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin:

May | Harper’s Bazaar France with Imaan Hammam by Mario Sorrenti:

In 2023, the relaunch of Harper’s Bazaar France has proved to be one of the best thing to come into the fruition. From the get-go, the magazine has proved to be a massive competitor with the heavy competition down at the newsstand and the title’s May 2023 offering was so different. Evoking the spirit of vintage Harper’s Bazaar under the legendary Diana Vreeland, cover star Imaan Hammam struck a stance for Mario Sorrenti and styled by Emmanuelle Alt, this particular cover felt like a huge leap forward in terms of hope for the future.

June | Harper’s Bazaar Spain with Esther Cañadas by Vladimir Marti:

The June 2023 cover is Harper’s Bazaar Spain encapsulated the summer months flawlessly. The first of the Summer 2023 issues gave us a gleeful and joyous Margot Robbie, posing all smiles for photographer Ethan James Green while promoting the soon-to-be blockbuster-smash Barbie. Styled by Tonne Goodman, the Australian actress instantly became the embodiment of Barbiecore sporting a bright pink Versace dress. As a result, the cover completely commanded your attention down at the newsstand – love at first sight.

August | British Vogue with Maya Jama by Steven Meisel:

It’s always a good month whenever Edward Enninful has commissioned master photographer Steven Meisel to shoot the cover of British Vogue and August 2023 was a sight for sore eyes. In the flawless and pixel-perfect cover photograph, British television presenter Maya Jama made her surprise and completely unexpected Vogue cover debut. Meisel (to no one’s amazement) profiled Maya flawlessly, in the cover which evoked the spirits of the 80s but with a modern and updated twist.

He Cong featured in the striking cover image, with the Chinese beauty dabbling in a sport of archery, captured wearing a stunning emerald green couture scarf grown by Robert Wun which only added to the strong sense of drama and the beauty of the cover as a whole. October | UK Harper’s Bazaar with Saoirse Ronan by Agata Pospieszynska:

British Harper’s Bazaar doing what British Harper’s Bazaar does best is always a recipe for a good cover, and the magazine done themselves (and us) proud for October 2023. Lydia Slater embraced Saoirse Ronan as cover star, who posed for Bazaar regular Agata Pospieszynska and styled by Charlie Harrington looked radiant and ethereal in sequined Gucci. Overall, the cover encapsulated the changing seasons to perfection and outshone everything else available on the newsstand that month.

November | US ELLE with Irina Shayk by Daniel Jackson:

Model Irina Shayk, photographer Daniel Jackson and stylist Alex White proved less is ALWAYS more with American ELLE‘s November 2023 cover. A total palate cleanser for all that was on offer down at the newsstand. A breath of fresh air. Minimalism done right, and oh so perfectly executed by all those involved and just another cover cementing Nina Garcia’s ELLE as one of the best glossies in the business. 10/10!

December | D la Repubblica with Mila van Eeten by Nicola Delorme:

D la Repubblica‘s issue dated December 2, 2023 started the month off on an extremely high note. Despite the cover not overtly screaming pure unapologetic festive holiday glamour, Mila van Eeten posing for photographer Nicola Delorme gave us major ‘holidays but make it fashion’ vibes. Against a red backdrop, the Dutch model gazed down Delorme’s lens wearing Fendi and Cartier, resulting in a stunning and utterly captivating cover for us to fawn over. Zero complaints.

The holiday season is just around the corner, and glitz, glamour, sparkle and unapologetic splendor ought to be all the rage. Feeling festive, we’re reflecting back to unwrap the top 5 most festive fashion magazine covers of all time – from spectacular cover images lensed by master photographer Steven Meisel to uncovering a forgotten favorite deep within the Harper’s Bazaar archives.

Scroll further for theFashionSpot’s picks of the most festive and most dazzling magazine covers that have ever graced the newsstand:

#5 Vogue Italia December 2004 with Karen Elson by Steven Meisel:

While this cover may not exactly scream Christmas from the treetops, there’s no denying the cover shot oozes a certain holiday quality. Karen Elson posed for Steven Meisel and the duo achieved a romantically dark yet glamorous mood, as if Karen has just returned home from a fabulous New Year’s party and now sits alone reflecting on the handsome stranger she met. Meisel shot the redheaded British beauty wearing a black velvet Ralph Lauren gown, with Karen’s hair fashioned into old-Hollywood waves adding drama and charm to Italian Vogue‘s December 2024 cover.

IMAGE | IRISCOVETBOOK.COM

#4 UK Vogue December 2007 with Sienna Miller by Nick Knight:

Nick Knight has created some overwhelmingly gorgeous British Vogue covers – most becoming instantly iconic. The magazine’s December 2007 cover may not be deemed iconic as of yet, but we certainly remember this particular cover shining bright like a diamond on the newsstand during the festive period of 2007. Sienna Miller showcased a stunning metallic gown by Dolce & Gabbana, looking ready for the party season ahead, posing alongside a quirky prop. The silver metallic fonts added pizazz once viewed in real life and we’ll be hunting out our copies today to get us in the festive spirit!

IMAGE | MODELS.COM

#3 Vogue Paris December 2001/January 2002 with Kate Moss by Mario Testino:

This cover just screams Christmas from the onset. Kate Moss graced the last double-issue of 2001 for French Vogue with Mario Testino capturing everyone’s favorite British supermodel with a set of holiday fairy lights wrapped around her head – with wonderful results! The cover, in theory, sounds rather cheesy (but aren’t holidays supposed to be cheesy?) yet Testino, Carine Roitfeld and Kate pulled the concept off perfectly. Holidays but make it fashion and we 100% approve.

IMAGE | SCANNEDFASHIONWORLD.COM

#2 Vogue Russia December 2008 with Naomi Campbell by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott:

Yet another cover that screams of the holiday season, although the December 2008 cover of Vogue Russia took a more luxurious approach this time around. The magazine tapped Naomi Campbell as its cover subject and got creative twosome Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott to photograph the sitting, opting to shoot Naomi draped in a luxurious white fur that cascaded around her structured face as she gazed down M&M’s lens. With a minimal amount of text and a subtle pink masthead, we’d say this cover is pretty much right on the money for December.

IMAGE | SCANNED BY TFS FORUM MEMBER ACHAT

#1 Harper’s Bazaar December 1992 with Kate Moss by Patrick Demarchelier:

A golden oldie, a forgotten favorite and a clear winner. Kate Moss wows us on the December 1992 issue of American Harper’s Bazaar. Photographed by Patrick Demarchelier, a then 18-year-old Kate posed wearing an extravagant red Christian Dior haute couture gown, hair and makeup done to the nines, while holding a Christmas snow globe. Simple, effective and completely understated, we ask the current team of Bazaar to please take note. This is how a festive fashion magazine cover is truly done!

Throughout the series of images lensed by Zoë Ghertner and styled by Lotta Volkova, the actor perhaps best known for her tole as Princess Diana in Netflix’s The Crown totes the brand’s signature Aradie and Wander handbags, posing in a room lined with antique furniture and plush carpets.

A sense of intimacy, elegance and charm. Cultivated dress codes redrawn for the here and now. An expression of beauty reconsidered for the many facets of life today. Starring actor Emma Corrin, Miu Miu Holiday occupies a home, a private space, open to infinite possibilities and interpretation.

The mood is refined: an eased opulence and languor prevails in a filmic environment familiar to the person who inhabits it, who is cultured and confident – comfortable in their own skin. Backdropped by soft carpet and framed by precious antiques belonging to a distant place and time, the wardrobe is similarly layered – meaningful. Fluid black cady, shearling, tactile tweeds, sparkling organza embellished with crystal evoke archetypically sophisticated dress codes, their significance renewed.

Glossed leathers, soft cashmere and jersey afford freedom of movement and effortless allure. Prototypical garments are remixed. Incarnations of glamour and elegance past enrich and inform, always with the present and future in mind. Miu Miu collaborated with Marshall to create a joint line of their iconic products and with Polaroid for cameras complete with branded web camera straps.

Here's the Hits & Misses of the December 2023 Magazine Covers

Festive glamour has seemingly remained off the agenda of just about every fashion publication this month. British ELLE opted to boycott any sense of celebration and festivity, having done a 90s fashion revival with Rosemary Ferguson as their cover star while Vogue Japan served up models Abény Nhial and Mary Ukech sporting complementing corded Miu Miu looks on a cover which evoked a vibe of the early 00s. Glamour (without the festive) arrived in the form of Nicki Minaj‘s long-awaited debut as an American Vogue cover star, in addition to Emilia Clarke decked out in sequined Giorgio Armani on the cover of British Harper’s Bazaar.

Scroll further to see which December 2023 covers made the cut (and which didn’t) according to theFashionSpot’s unfiltered forum members:

Christian Dior Joaillerie F/W 2023.24 : Elizabeth Debicki by Julien Martinez Leclerc

It is common knowledge that Christian Dior likes to have a whole rooster of brand ambassadors (like Charlize Theron, Jennifer Lawrence, Natalie Portman, Yara Shahidi and Anya Taylor-Joy) on speed dial, to make appearances either on the red carpet dressed in one of Maria Grazia Chiuri’s designs or fronting an advertising campaign for the fabled French fashion house. Dior added Elizabeth Debicki to their rolodex and wealth of ambassadors back in late 2021, with the actress’ first official outing arriving in the form of the brand’s Rose Dior joaillerie advertising campaign in 2022 – to much fanfare on theFashionSpot’s forums.

Almost a whole two years later, Debicki returns as the face of Christian Dior Joaillerie for the Fall 2023 season, appearing before the lens of photographer Julien Martinez Leclerc and dripping in the the Victorie de Castellane-designed Rose Dior Bagatelle and Bois de Rose collections. Against a simple yet classic, clean and timeless grey backdrop, the Australian beauty oozes elegance and grace as she gazes down Leclerc’s lens.

Sparkling diamonds and mesmerizing gemstones animate the Rose Dior Bagatelle and Bois de Rose jewels by Victoire de Castellane, with actress Elizabeth Debicki personifying this brilliance, mirroring a decadent homage to nature. The glistening Bois de Rose pieces reveal pure, organic forms of rose stems and thorns in gold, marrying the untamed beauty of the wild with Dior Joaillerie craftsmanship.

Not even gloomy skies over London could dampen the spirits at last night’s 2023 Fashion Awards. Held at the Royal Albert Hall, a plethora of A-list attendees stepped out for the celebratory fashion-filled occasion and walked the red carpet in their finest finery (many opting to dig into the archives). Guests soon witnessed Paloma Elsesser winning Model of the Year, Martine Rose crowned British Menswear Designer of the Year, Maximilian Davis nabbing British Womenswear Designer of the Year and Jonathan Anderson won big with the Designer of the Year award.

Back to the red carpet looks, here just 18 of theFashionSpot’s must-see looks of the night:
