Forum Members React to Simone Rocha as Jean Paul Gaultier’s Next Guest Couturier

There’s now an ever-revolving door at Jean Paul Gaultier HQ, and we kinda live for it during Paris Fashion Week’s haute couture season. Following a whole plethora of jaw-dropping collections by Chitose Abe, Glenn Martens, Olivier Rousteing, Haider Ackermann and Julien Dossena, Simone Rocha was announced earlier this week as the latest designer tasked with creating a couture collection for Jean Paul Gaultier.

Following the legendary designer’s last bow as creative director of his namesake fashion house back in 2020, Gaultier has since adopted the method of welcoming a designer of his choice as the creative force behind his haute couture collections. Gaultier has handpicked Simone Rocha for the upcoming Spring 2024 haute couture offering, which is set to be unveiling during Paris Fashion Week in January 2024.

Members of theFashionSpot forums were quick to respond to the news. “You know what, good for her! This could be a great opportunity for her to get out of her comfort zone a bit but to also expand her design vocabulary a little further. Hopefully it doesn’t end up being a surplus of layered organza smocks in sailor-stripes and the like,” commented Cocteau Stone.

“Such exciting news, I can’t wait. Gaultier has never failed me when it come to his choice of designers. This could be a great opportunity for Gaultier because Simone can explore more softer/romantic side of him that sometimes can be quite underrated,” chimed in THD96.

“It’s nice to have another woman for a change,” noted LadyJunon.

Nimsay approved, voicing: “Probably will be ravishing. I’d love to see Rocha’s variant of the JPG corset. Gaultier is cementing his legacy as a grand master, and the way he is developing the younger generation is unparalleled.”

“Good surprise and I’m very excited to see this,” raved Lola701.
